I made my Y-pipe from (2) 90 degree 3.5" diameter tubes found on eBay cheap. Just cut em and weld together.

As for how this transitions to the MAF, you can use a silicone coupler that is 3.75" to 3.5". You will have to cut the coupler down a bit as well. i did not have any probs with the radius since the silicone coupler accomodated it.

This is a beautiful piece you machined, but am not sure it was necessary unless it serves as a different function than mating the 3.5 tubes to the MAF.

This seems to be larger radius and coupler won't fit when the pipe is cut down but my pipe may be lower under the hood also.I have seen different y pipes with a smaller radius but worse for air flow. With this setup I just use the original 928 MAF rubber with the same press fit as the factory uses it goes on the same as the stock filter assembly.

Going to try either 4" internal filters that flow 575cfm per side or if the aluminum canister style filters fit in they flow 600cfm per side. With the internal filter 4inch pipe can be used and the filters won't be seen and good for 575cfm flow.
I like the internal filter look which would show more of the polished pipe.
Last picture is MAF from bottom view.

Hey Mark,
Where did you source these and how much total CFM do you need?

Walt, called the company Spectre Performance gave them the cu in and max rpm.
They told me either setup would work best.
I know on normally asperated car when picking a carb you use
cu in*rpm/3456
Example 350cu in*rpm/3456=658cfm
Alot of small blocks use 650 cfm holley some more modified bigger
My old drag car was 416 cu in and it ran best with 750cfm carb tried 850cfm car ran slower
(416cu in*6200rpm)/3456=746cfm
575 cfm filters per side should flow well more than needed.
On supercharged cars for the 928 looks like one of the best superchargers flows around 1200cfm
Have parts on order.

Mark,

I ordered a pair of the inline 4" filters last week to try out. I should have them here shortly, and can post pictures and comments. If you want to wait a day or two, I may have some helpful information.

Does anyone know of an inline filter that would support ~1000cfm?

Make your own with the AEM Dryflow 21-2100DK

http://www.aemintakes.com/search/pro...Prod=21-2100DK

After looking into filters for my own project, that is the best single unit filter I could find for our supercharged cars, plus its MAF friendly. However, its not very convenient to mount. When I was planing a single filter system, I was going to use this filter in the void under the passenger headlight, in an aluminum enclosure. The filter was to be mounted with the normal base attached to brake ducting, and the outlet to the supercharger induction system was going to be through this Vibrant Performance 3.5" bellmouth:

http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...6036282d0020db

I figured that the MAF placed right after this mouth, would meter almost exactly like stock. It has almost the same profile as the factory airbox, and by using the diffused air filtering method, there would be a nice even flow going across the MAF. There is a local tank manufacturer here who I had lined up to make the airbox, and then a matching tank for the drivers side for intercooler coolant, but I went back to dual intakes instead.

I have all the bits here to make that system (excpet the fabricated box), and mocked it all up with cardboard. It will work, the only modification required is removal of the factory fender support strut/horn mounts, but figured that the box would easily be able to replace both with some simple tabs welded on.

Hope that helps,
Hans
