Default Daytona 24hr.........race win spoiler

If your taping (DVR) and have the Daytona 24 hr race STOP reading now.

Action Express Racing has just won the Daytona 24hr race with a prototype car powered by a V8 Cayenne engine

Superb performance from the car and team which included an assortment of drivers and dare I mention a Scot.

Well, a car with a V8 Porsche engine in a Riley chassis (Daytona Prototype.) Interestingly many of the folks on the winning team are current or former Brumos Porsche Racing folks. The commentary on Speed was to the effect of "Too bad Stuttgart didn't help them field the car." The GT class was won by a Mazda RX8 followed by 3 or 4 Porsche GT3's.

Yea, what is that RX8 thing about? They must have given those guys some real huge boost allowances as well as cut their weight massively so they could win. They were fast last year too though but I do find it odd that an RX8 is being raced at all... the 928 catches enough crap about "not being a real race car" or whatever and then you have folks racing RX8's and Volvo's and 4 door Audi's...give me a break!

While I would have preffered one of thr GT3 cars to win the GT field when the RX8s wind up on the banking was very reminisant of full (1000cc) superbikes music.

Running out of fuel on the back stretch killed the #67 chances when they were leading.

The RX 8 is a tube framed race car which *looks* like a Mazda.

Bob,

True enough...that car is as much like an RX8 (ok, maybe slightly more like an RX8) as ANY NASCAR is to the car it is badged after... that is to say there is NO PARTS INTERCHANGEABILITY AT ALL! I bet you can find a WHOLE bunch of parts on the GT3 Porsche's on the track on any GT3 on the street!

Irish...........google Daytona 24hr many sites to see the blow by blow.

In my part of the world Speed shutdown at 10pm and back on at 5am.................that 4:30am alarm on a Sun morning was tough but worth it
