You guys don't know how good you have it
With 928 Specialists, 928 Intl and Roger.
I bought a 99/911. Specialists parts suppliers are few and far between and the few I have found are simple not near as knowledgable about the car. Nor as friendly.
Jeanie would never dream of charging me a restocking fee. However my first round with the 911 supplier charged me a 20% fee on PARTS NOT EVEN SHIPPED (flat6 innovations) Its a long story and it was fare, in a way, but in a way not. But what a way to retain a DIY customer, NOT. They lost over 1200 in Brake and clutch parts sales over 70$ restocking fees at this point.
I ordered parts twice now (from another supplier, autopartswarehouse.com) and both times I got a wrong part of some sort. Even something as simple as brake pads. I finally got it all straightened out and they gave me a coupon code for 20% OFF my next order... But what a fiasco!
So treat your suppliers well... They do you, if you realize it or not.

All 928 suppliers can supply other Porsche model parts. Just call/email and ask!
A good way to keep them in business so they'll be around for awhile!
This does not yet apply to us though.

Kyle - don't forget Pelican Parts and Vertex Auto - they do alot in 911 parts, only incidental in 928 parts.
Also, if you need real top shelf expertise, there is John Raysich in Bridgeville. While we all took our sharks to him, his real sweet spot is 911s. He is an authorized Porsche guy, doing this stuff for 30 years, and and works now with his son. The best Porsche guy I've ever worked with. Just off I-79 south of Pittsburgh. He'll talk you thru stuff too. You can call him anytime about an issue, and he'll chat it up with you. Tell him you know Wolfie and me.
His number is (412) 221-1855.

I agree. This is the best pool of knowledge on rennlist.
Through the efforts of many on this site , I have been able to fix my 928 properly and cost effectively.
I have a 997 also. Few on that site seem to know the nuts and bolts of the 997. Not slagging anyone , just seems to be the way it is...

We have always supported cross-dressers..er I mean cross-owners(928ers who also own other Porsche models). We are happy to order parts for "other" models, especially if the owners know what they want and even better if they have part numbers. We don't however claim to be "specialists" for the other models but always try to help the best we can. The only thing I know about a 911 is that the engine is in a "strange" place :-)

Check out Planet9Eleven.com Call and talk to Cory. If you can get ahold of him he is great and very knowledgeable.
My very thrifty DIY 85 Carrera owning friend uses Pelican BBS for info and Pelican for parts.

Kyle,
Get a copy of PET (available on Porsche website) and send Roger the P/Ns. This will save time and hassle.
You can find it here: http://login.dealerskins.com/SiteSpe...rameset_en.htm
