simulating CAD plating on fuel lines

I've got many fuel lines already plated in gold zinc If you take a picture of the pieces you want to replace, I can see if I have them to exchange (I send out big batches of stuff, so the per piece cost is really cheap....shipping back and forth will be the expensive part!)
Agree w Doc Brown.
Gold Zinc “can be” an exact match depending on who you use.
I used Texas Precision plating in Garland, TX on all my $##T on the GTS and the 79. It actually looks BETTER than the crap that Porsche used.
If you can find a place that does “CAD” it actually looks like crap. Looks like there’s a nasty milky wash over it.
Yellow Zinc looks like what PORSCHE did over the years.
Bring a Home Depot bucket up and your local plater will do the whole thing for around $100.
Good Stuff!

my basic concern with the yellow zinc is that it quickly fades to gray even in a dry climate. Do it and follow with a clearcoat and it may be fine longer term. It ends up a lot of work for a limited benefit unless it's protected.
Folks may need a reminder that these plated pieces are intended to sacrifice the plating to protect the base metal underneath. Zinc and cadmium go to grey, keeping the base steel material from rusting by sacificing ions faster. Meanwhile... Cadmium has earned a prominent position on several sh!tlists, and the wastes from the plating process are very closely regulated and monitored. There are some aircraft applications that remain where there are no real alternatives, so look for platers that support that industry as an option for getting the right stuff.

Burbank plating still does CAD as far as I know here in SoCal.
I'm going to send them a bunch of hard lines and other visible fasteners for my 81 when I finally have a chance to work on it.
