How much for a pair of 4.5 liter heads? Some details too please

Iccy 928, that approach is such a credit to this hobby. You've inspired me to do the same, ie, keep what I need and put the rest in the hands of the guys who need it at a nominal price. Your 89 trans wiring harness, BTW, is going to GlennM, gratis, to help him. Thanks, and let me know if I can ever help you!

Thanks for the offer! I may have to take you up on that during the re-assembly of the 928 RS-4 Track project.

Hi Raven I have bought some parts off them, we have a local supplier that is very affordable. He just doesn't have any 4.5 heads. The heads I have I can epoxy, maybe they can be welded but that is a lot of metal, which means a lot of heat. From my calculations even the 4.5 heads are slightly too big in the ports. I have been busy and haven't had a chance to consult with the Guru of heads.

Anyone who needs 4.5L parts, I have a short block and a set of heads out of an 82 AT that is currently completely disassembled. I know I an lay hands on both halves of the block, all 8 pistons, the crankshaft, and the heads. The parts are located at my father's house in maryland, so if anyone local needs them, drop me a PM and I can arrange for you to get them. Otherwise, we can ship if you will pay shipping.

Any update on your work concerning 4.5L heads. I bought some euro cams 85 and now I am looking at the heads. If I read this thread correctly maybe building my 4.5L heads might be a way to go.

I don't know much about the different heads except the euro's had bigger ports and valves. I would think a 4.5L head ported with bigger valves could support 300rwhp w/ euro cams and a 5.0L shortblock.

Head work has always been the key to hp in all of the other motors I have delt with and with the 928 it seems that the concensous is buy euro heads , get your 300rwhp and be happy. I just have a hard time believing that.

What do I know!

Hi Stephen hope you are well, I did get the development head out of storage but the a little baby came along a ruined that plan, but I still like the 4.5 head except for the combustion chamber size. Maybe some welding could be done in the right places or a better piston made to get the comp up to 10.5 or maybe 11 depending on the fuel.

You certainly don't want bigger ports, just bigger valves, use the S exhaust and a 49 mm intake OEM from Pelican or if you want to spend more money make some custom 52 mm ones. You will need bigger valves don't scrimp there.
