Tire Search - why so few matching sets?

I like my 16`s. I just went with Bridgestone Hi Perf all seasons. I think they are called "Pole Position"
The rears are 50 series also. I havn`t had any issues with several sets using the 50`s on the back.
225/50/16 on front 245/50/16 on rear Tires are speed rated W. Cost was about $140. per tire.

Add me to those who are happy with the Fuzion ZRi's. Good tire, cheap price, but I don't know about tire life. I don't drive mine enough to wear out my tires that quick. But so far, good traction in dry and wet ( I don't drive it in snow).

I bought the Fuzion ZRi's also. They had them at the Tire Works here by the house. Mounted, high speed balanced, 4 axel alignment, with courner balance. $1016.00 out the door with road hazard. I thought that was a good price. And I like the way the car rides and handles.

Tires are harder to come by in the high performance range especially for 16 inch rims.
I matched mine up by purchasing Ventrus HRII (Hankook) and upping the size of the rear tires to 245/50/16. This meant that the overall diameter of the rear was a little bigger, which made the circumference a little larger and should bring my speedo more in line, as the speed when compare with the GPS was around 7% low. The increase in diameter can be accommodated within the ride height specification settings.

Rears are OK but your fronts seem too wide for those rims. I suspect this violates the min width rim for those tires (check).
This will pinch in the tread width - because the sidewalls will be angled more into the rims. This may run risk of pressure loss on heavy cornering .
I think even on on 7.5" rims ( you sure your fronts aren't 7.5") most 40/17 tires max out at 225 widths

Noticed the thread and the mention of the same size on front as the rear. Should that be a concern or is it okay. The car i recently bought has 255/40ZR/17 on the front and the rear. I measured the inside of the rims from dropoff to dropoff and the front was around 7" wide and the rear 8" wide. So not sure if I have a problem here. Do I need to change the front to a narrower tire? The car handles great and yesterday I compared my speedo with my GPS and they were right on.

I ran the Fuzion ZRis on my old TT Z32. Very good for a daily driver. They don't stick like MXs, but two comparisons on tirerack put them near the top with their competitors.

Plus parent company is Bridgestone I beleive. So that gives me some confidence.
You can also find some new old stock of currently discontinued tires in the coveted 245/45-16 on EBAY if you search. I found a nice set of Micehlins on there a while back. But for th furture its looking dim. I really hope Fuzion doesn't stop making these.
What's odd is that this is the same size tire used on the rear 930s (i.e. 9-inch Fuchs) and 951s. I would think there are enough vintage 80s sportscars still running around to at least justify the size available by mail order, even if they wouldn't be kept in stock at local stores. It is disappointing.

Sata had ZRi's as it's last pair, stock 225/50/16.
Very nice tire for the price...BUT, they didn't last at all - 12k was hitting tread wear marks. No burnouts at all, but quite a bit of canyon runs and majority spirited driving.
All in all, if you don't mind changing them each year, they are inexpensive for their performance. No noise or squeal, nice adhesion and predictable when they do let go, very even treadwear.

I like the Ventrus HRII. I had the front ones on for a couple of years and the rears are new. The wear rate of the tread on the fronts is good.

I did some research and user feedback on tires and also bought the Sumimotto performance tires from a chain, pushed them on the track and street with no complaints. Upgraded to 18" 997 turbo replicas from here.

The only decent tires that match on the 16"s for the 87-91 are the Continental ContiSport.... Everyone else seems to have dropped the 16"s in our range 
which is a shame as i loved the Dunlop SP Sport 8000 on my car; excellent road holding, low noise, excellent wet and dry traction, and they looked great...

But they've been on the car, in storage, for more than 8 years.
The worst tire, I've had the unfortunate blessing to have, on two occations, were the Conti Sport Contact II's. I pray the next set of wheels I get do not already have them mounted.
