From his monitor screen they were simulating running the "Ring" with the V8. It was also neat to see the exhaust manifold get red hot.

I can't see any sort of rig like that sustaining more than 1 g since is it basically stationary except for rolling the engine about an axis.

Got to drive a 707 simulator that the cockpit mock up thing did all that axis rotation stuff at the OKC FAA when in HS as part of an electronic class field trip. I was very real feeling. As I was about to crash trying to land, I quickly climbed out of the pilot seat and jumped out of the back of the simulator. The FAA told me I was the only one that had ever bailed out of their simulator, and even though they told me it was dangerous because of the movement of the simulator, they all laughed hysterically.

what angle would 1g be though?

Man, I just love the color of your GTS rig!

The angle that gravity effects everything, 1g straight down.

Irisblaumetallic is why I bought the car! Love at first sight. And with x-pipe, rmb, 600/400 springs, Koni reds, 235/275 tires, Devek front bar, Ott rear steriods, and -1.5/-1 alignment I am besting GT3's and GT2's at our local 1.2 mile track autocross events. And mine sounds like a V8!

Yes, and no. It can simulate more than 1g lateral because that would be 45degrees off-axis for the engine. So more or less infinite lateral at 90 degrees.

BUT, you forgot about force vector of gravity acting with the lateral or deceleration. even with a 100Gs, the oil level wouldnt be perfectly perpendicular to the ground.

Your car is perfect! basically, my race car for the street in an incredible color!

I think this is less about the force, and more about the where does the oil drain to, which is angle.

The 997 came with a warning of the car not being warranteed if the car was driven on a track with tires more aggressive than Street tires. I am assuming there aren't many street tires that can manage much over 1g. That would be my basis for the limitations of either the design or the simulator and thus the warranty stipulation.

And yes, I really really like my GTS.

we get near 1.4g or so with the DOTs.

1g would be like engine at a 45 degreee angle, right?

the centrifugal force and force due to gravity would put the engine at a 45 degree angle if on a stand, to simulate the effects as if it was pulling 1g in a turn , or underbraking. I think it would be a force vector of the two. gravity and centrifugal force, putting the oil level at a 45 degree angle in the pan.
