Michael,

I hope the car looks and runs as good as the ad says and that you are able to make the trade! That would be outstanding!
Silly me, I always order parts by year model and vin, I have never ordered parts by calling a 928 a OB or not.

I know you have a thing about what is a OB and what is not, as many here do, and personally I just do not get the big deal, it is a 84, and that is good enough for me, it has the older body look.

In other words I really do not care what you call it or if you think I will get the wrong parts, I seem to be able to do that by giving the build date and vin all by myself.

WTF is with his photo background? Asshat. That's about the top of the line for an 84 auto.
Do you mean top dollar?

I stand corrected. I was looking at the side shots, and it appears you can see brake components in the openings. But you are right when looking at a shallow angle vs. straight on. They are either painted or some sort of black stickers.

Looks to me like the wheels are flat dish with blacked out portions to make them look like CS.

If you look at the one pic of the rear half of the car, it's pretty obvious.

Hey James, maybe its an SOB!

BTW, I'm totally with you on the true definition of an OB

Did the ad get taken down? The link didn't show it.

I placed the bid that drove it to the final price. Contemplated going higher. I was at work when the auction ended, I wish the seller had contacted me. Oh well - good luck!

I think you are supposed to contact the seller, (and leave the specified down payment)when you win an auction.
At the end of the auction I require a $500 down payment via paypal, within 48 hours of the closing of the auction. The remaining balance must be paid in cash.
From the auction
The seller also posted his phone # in his E-bay ad.
Why couldnt you close the deal?

Oh, sorry bout that Mate.
As you can tell I have dealt with dead beat bidders before. On the other hand...
Whenever someone like this seller tells me the the buyer did not contact them, or I see cars relisted for this reason, I always think theres a pretty good chance the sellers buddy accidentally won the auction while driving the price up.

Hi Michael,

I may have been incorrect about my claim.
I just reviewed the bid history and if your ebay handle ends in t***r then I was not the guy who drove up the price.

Dead beat bidders and sellers, I know them well.

When I said "Good luck" with the car, I truly meant it. I hope you cut a sweet deal and get it...

I never bid on the ebay auction. Its for sale on Craigslist in Atlanta. I called and he told me he never heard from the winning bidder so he put an ad up.
Im going to look at it on Tuesday and he wants to see my 2002 VW Jetta.
We are going to trade if we are both happy.
Im going to leave the vw with him and head for Gregs Garage so he can help me pick it apart.

6 grand is fair...after a thorough service repair document search and a good look by Greg..Yes, you should bring the beer..without hesitation...If he will trade for the Passat, then you almost cannot go wrong with this deal...

Good Luck...........

Oh yeah.. I have a real good set of Chrome dish ( manhole covers) wheels with pretty good Kumho Ecsta's from my old '88 S4 that would look great on that '84..can't use 'em on my GT...PM me if you have any interest..very reasonable

I love it, and the wheels too. And sorry Doc, you shameless thread killer, but when I saw that photo shot of the car, I thought it was great - industrial look/background setting - many high end teen clothing mall stores use this theme.
I thought it was clever and hip (altho at my point in life, the only "hip" thing I have goin is a steroid injection every 6 months or so, so that I can walk)
