Sanjay... you'll have to let me know who you spoke with. If it is who I think it might be, that person is also new to PCA and new to Porsches in general. If it is indeed who I think it is, he came from the Ferrari camp (355, I think) and even asked me if my 928 was a convertible or hardtop!

So, it could simply be a 'lack of knowledge' factor...

Our PCA is spread out. They are definitely 911 centric and only want to do Porsche things.....as membership is small this translates into not much of anything each year. Better off going to all the local cruises and shows muscle, vintage, hot rod everyone is super nice and 928 friendly, got many trophies ribbons last year.

Hi Sanjay,

It was good meeting you the other night. I am a little surprised at such a comment about your car. I personally have owned everything from an old POS '73 911T, to Boxsters (secretaries and hairdressers cars you know), a 928S4 5-speed and now a Cayenne (aka the PIG). The S4 was actually my wife's favorite.

The comment about your car, IMHO, was uncouth. Unfortunately you have one in every crowd so please do not think that this is typical of our group. Our Zone 3 Rep and former President, Bob Saville, is a 914 nut.

Personally I could care less about what kind of car you have, I just want to be able to bring the membership events that everyone wants to participate in.

I hope to see you at future meetings and events!

Regards!

Thanks Harvey, I enjoyed meeting you as well and I will definitely come to more meetings.

I spoke to Barry and he knows the person I met. I don't think it was the car that he was "down" as much as it was his mannerisms. The guy is a little old school and more straight forward in his speaking style. No harm, no foul.

See you at the next meeting.

The 928 is the Rodney Dangerfield of Porsches....it gets no respect from many Porsche Owners but if you just dropped $100,000 or so on your ride how does a $5,000-10,000 old car seem relevant ? Bottom line is who cares what other people think , drive what YOU like !

Harvey - Every PCA chapter president should be as you. Well done.

I pass on my compliments to Harvey Yancey as well. You are one of several great regional presidents, but there seem to be others who are less concerned about inclusiveness.

Well done Harvey.

Oh god, here we go giving Harvey a big head Inclusiveness? He's been giving me crap for owning a 914 since I've known him .... I've felt shunned since we moved to NC!

Hi Bob,

Papa Smurf was looking lonely at the Black Forest Racing tech session on Saturday... what are you having done? Adding a couple of cylinders? Actually, a V8 just might fit... hmmm?

Hi Barry,
No, Papa was getting just some routine winter maintenance done - oil change, valve adjust, etc. lots of little stuff that are much easier with a lift. I did a complete re-wire of him and need Cody to check a few things with the alternator.
Couldn't make the tech session, I was in Atlanta for Peachstate's 50th anniversary party. going to Daytona this weekend!

Preference of rear engined air cooled versus front engined water cooled is just something that will continue happening with a few folks. It simply is what it is. Just like Harvey will always have better hair than me.

We mustn't let engine location or hair follicles come between us as German car enthusiasts.

After you get your fill at the Zone 2 event in March, First Settlers PCA has their Spring DE 21-23 May at VIR. We'll be running the Full Course all three days. Day one will be a PCA Nat'l instructor clinic, but otherwise open to solo drivers to suck up the extra track time, then Sat/Sun standard program for all groups.

If you want to try it out first, we offer a one-session DE Intro deal on Saturday afternoon where you get one session with an instructor for $50. All you need is a helmet.

We're still working out pricing and a rough schedule, but we should have all the info on the registration site by this weekend.

If you have any questions or would like more info, please drop me an emai - registrar@fsrpca.org
