Finally a sensible alternative to turbo chargers and superchargers... when will the kit be ready for market?

Cool swap but it looks really slow. It does have a great sound though. Search the forum and you will see a few threads discussing your car or maybe it was the other one.

How long does 20 gals of fuel last?
It gets about 2 miles per gallon of Jet-A fuel driving round town and about 17 miles per gallon on the freeway.

Good luck keeping the hood paint intact!

EDIT: That thing is badass. I love the jet sound. I always feel like I'm in the batmobile when I nail the accelerator, now you get to SOUND like it too!

The car that was discussed before on this forum was the first conversion. That conversion had a 160shp turbine, this is a rare 550shp that was used for recon during the Vietnam war. Stock 928 HP fot this year as you may know is on 220hp. When this thing spools up, it sucks you into the seat.

I'd bet it has phenomenal emmissions. Turbines are supposed to be extremely efficient and will burn anything. You could run biodiesel in that unit and make the hippies happy.

The hood paint is not the original paint. The hood has been repainted using a paint made by Hy-Tech Thermal solutions (INSL-X Hi-Temp #AL-2402). The paint is a silicone aluminum coating that withstands temperatures up to 1200°F

WOW! That is crazy! You MUST have to much time on your hands! LOL! I love seeing the creativity. What have you done for power brakes and power steering? Do you have an electric pump for those things?

Turbines can burn just about anything, diesel, bio-diesel, kerosine, vodka, tequila, channel#5.......It is most efficent at around 80-90% turbine speed. Ever wonder why when you fly to Hawaii, it seems like the plane spends most of it's time climbing? That's to save on fuel...

Since the turbine does not produce vaccum, I do not have power brakes, the rear section of the turbine where the reduction gear is located has a pump that is installed to power assist the steering. I smoked the brakes on this car at only 40% of the turbines speed due to the slow spool down of the turbine during braking (it wants to keep puliling forward). I'm looking at some options like carbon ceramic brakes perhaps...

Originally I was going to do a conversion on a 1980's Trans Am , and convert it to a full Knight 2000 like the car from show Night Rider. But the Trans Am did not have enought engine compartment space to fit the Boeing T50 properly. While I was scouting the wrecking yard for a donor. I noticed that the 928 had the longest engine compartment out there. That is why it's in the 928 and not in the Trans Am.

It's funny you say that, I also have a 1996 Pro Street Impala SS that has a 409cid twin turbo engine. The turbo system will be converted soon to an experimental turbine powered turbo charger that I am developing. I am currectly in the market to find a Garette air research JFS 100, The JFS 100 is a small turbine usaully used to start big turbine engines on planes. I plan to machine a shaft from the turbine to the center shaft of the turbocharger. This means, you would never have any lag and the exhaust could flow freely on its own without the restriction of a turbo. Here's a link to my Pro Street car in its current build.:

Thanks,
I had a lot of help form a turbine expert who is also a great machinist! This was a very long project in the making, but when I met this guy all my "un knowns" got answered.

Awesome. The video of the first run reminded me of the sound of the car in Cannonball Run with Jackie Chan and some other guy. I think it was a older Corolla or maybe a Conquest TSI. Whenever it drove, it sounded like a turbine. I love to see custom work, great job! Keep the updates coming, I'd love to see it in person.
