Dexcool is only meant to go into cars that left the factory with Dexcool in them. If it is mixed even a little with conventional coolant, it will start gelling up and doing nasty stuff. Also, if it sees open air for too long, it will start crusting up (not really a problem on 928s). How sure are you that you have flushed every drop of coolant out of every crevice in the entire cooling system? G-05 also lasts 5 years and is fully compatible with conventional coolants. Because of this, to me it is a no-brainer to go with G-05.

Btw, I now use Glysantin, made by BASF. I think it was developed together with Vavoline, so I assume it is the same as Zerex. Now, I use Glysantin G48, which is low silicate and phosphate free. It is recommended for o.a. older Porsche aluminun engines (924, 928,944, 968). Funny thing, Glysantin also comes in G30 Alu protect, which is both silicate and phosphate free. That however is recommended for newer Porsche models. Glysantin G05 is supposedly good for grey iron cast engines (whatever those are). So, if Glysantin is the same stuff as Zerex, don't you guys have G48 in the US?

I just got a gal of the audi coolant for my wife's A8, it is red. will have to check the number on the bottle and compare to Malcolm's pic.
I decided to drain my coolant and replace when changing hoses because I had no idea what the PO had usesd. does that Audi coolant cause any issues if there is a small amount of old coolant in my car?

Apparently it's not meant to go into them either:
