Randy.............. get that car up here!
Randy.............. get that car up here!
Besides, it's kind of hard to push a car that far at my age.
Funny that you should suggest that I come to Dallas; Cheryl and I were talking about making a fun trip and came up with the idea of a small weekend gathering with the Dallas area crowd. Maybe we could plan a get together in your area in the next month or two. Could be fun.

The MAF had come loose and was loose again when they restarted the car. Checked a couple of spark plugs, completely black and wet with fuel. We're going to clean the plugs and try again now that the MAF is resecured.
Will update Wednesday, tomorrow is booked.
Thanks, all.

If you want to trade, I'll give ya my '95 Tahoe, throw in a Benjamin and arrange for Dan to give you Moonflowers.
I do have a couple of spare LH units if you need them, and if you are in BFE-says Sean-, I'm right on the edge!

Finally found time to make it by the mechanic's shop this afternoon. All of the plugs were clean and the MAF was reattached. It seemed to be running normally so I took it for a road test. At low speeds everything was fine. Once out of town I hammered it and it ran pretty good but was significantly lower in power than when running right. Definitely running on 8 cylinders.
I think the first time I floored it the MAF came unseated again. Limped back to the shop and verified that the MAF had come loose again.
I watched my mechanic reseat the MAF the day before and he tightened the band so tight he was almost afraid it would cut the rubber boot the MAF seats in.
Have any of you had problems with the MAF not staying seated? Remember, this is a super charged car. Is there another attachment mechanism we're missing in addition to what I will call the hose clamp?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Uh Donald, after much groveling and cleaning the house for her she decided to let me live.

I have replaced the stock clamp with a stainless steel T-bolt clamp, has about 3 times the width of the factory clamp...in theory 3 times the clamping force. So far, no MAF "creep" with probably twice the PSI you are running. I don't remember clamp size, just went to a local speed shop and matched it up to the boot.
Make sure the MAF flange and the rubber boot are really clean and grease free as well. You can also run a couple of long zip ties from the lower MAF clamp to the "ears" on the MAF. That method held very well until I upgraded the clamp.

I believe the car had two problems, one related to the internal fuel pump and one definitely related to the MAF blowing out of it's boot.
The first time the car stalled was more severe than occurred after the fuel pumps/filters were replaced. If you look at the pics on page one posted by Jim M his bottom photo is identical to the condition of our internal fuel pump. I think this contributed to the problem of the MAF blowing out of it's boot.
I'll get the wider straps as you recommended and hopefully this will be the end of the story.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.
