Hi Dan and welcome to the 'List.

I too am transplanted and have a somewhat grasp on the North American lingo.

As most cars are auto transmission over here the 'parking brake' is rarely used to park and is reffered to as an emergency brake to be used if the main brakes fail. I'm sure the term came from many years ago when brake failure happened more frequently than it does these days.............at least this is my understanding and stand to be corrected.

Nice looking car BTW, if you need lessons on winter driving ask away............lots of experience in Canada

Greetings from another transplant! I also speak "southern" which is a dialect unto itself somewhat akin to speaking "Devon".....

Geez- maybe I should up sticks too!
I think my spoken American has been heavily influenced by watching too much of The Wire.

Hi Dan,
Welcome to the club. Good to hear from another UK owner.
Get to know the Rennlist 928 community. They are the best:
helpful, brimming with information and (usually) very patient and polite.
It's easy to feel isolated as a 928 owner in the UK. In the two
years since I got mine I have only seen one other on the road
in the Glasgow area. The chat on this site is what gives me the
enthusiam to keep on at all the jobs that need doing.
BTW, love the colour. Very Teutonic.

Similar experience here in Midlands. In over 4 years since first owning a 928 I've seen maybe 5-6 on the road other than on the way to Porsche/928 events. On only one occasion have I seen another 928 when driving mine - I almost drove off the road in shock! I enjoy this rarity - I don't live in an especially affluent area but can think of about 6 911s (all 996/997 apart from one lovely 2.4 that's being restored)/Boxsters within 5 minutes walk of my house.

Just as it was starting to clear so I could drive, there's fresh snow everywhere this morning. Darn. Looks like trains and walking today instead.
Seen one other 928 since getting car a month ago. See thousands of Boxsters and 911 in London though, especially in Clapham which is my snowy destination today.
