Well, everyone else is saying hello so my turn too. I can't just watch the forums...

New proud owner of Polar Silver 928GT '90.

Previous owner had spent a lot of time and money getting the mechanicals/electrics sorted. Plus a bit of pimping: Turbo 2 wheels, chip, X-pipes and RMB. Previous car, still to sell, is my beloved Fiat Coupe 20VT. A fast car but this 928 is in another league.

A month now with several wonderful trips to SW England and only two niggles so far: brake light warning on day 2 solved with new bulb (frightning red warnings on the dash! Damn clever but intense) and no rear defog solved by replacing burnt fuse. I fear these will be the cheapest fixes!

Cosmetically there's a few areas to address with bubbling on fuel cap, around waterjets etc but getting some bass in the car is, of course, the priority now I've put in a new headunit.

Looking forward to the snow clearing in the UK, and for all these speedbumps in London being dug up too.

Hey Dan, welcome to the group! There's a pretty good UK group of owners who drop in here, plus there's a dedicated 928UK website someplace too. A couple of London owners here, including one who happened by the house here in California one day when we were staging a rear wheel bearing replacement and motor mount clinic. What are the odds?

I'll save the others here the challenge of asking for pictures of the new car. The thread will be worth more with pictures.

Hi Dan,

Welcome to Rennlist and nice GT. There's a small school of GT's in south London/north Surrey (Wallington & Surbiton) so look forward to meeting soon.

The 928 will be a totally different experience to the Fiat, especially the rear wheel drive and wet round abouts - you've probably figured that out already, but treat the go fast pedal with respect in the wet.

Highly recommend you join the mail list on www.928.org.uk if you haven't done so already, good for all the 'local' content.

Would like to hear how loud the X-Pipe and RMB combo is... it's generally considered too loud, how do you find it? No doubt the neighbours know exactly when your coming and going!

Hi Roger,

I thought I could speak American pretty well (GCSE level anyway) but was dumbfounded by the reference on this forum to the emergency brake. Is that a big button on the dash of US-spec cars that says panic on it? Perhaps I can break through and get a handle on the language eventually.

It is indeed linen leather. Really needs a clean and a feed but its too cold to be mucking about for hours doing that.

Hi Ryan,

rwd in the wet is one thing, in the snow its silly. Keeps me on my toes!
My last experience of rwd was my dad's 1958 Land Rover 15 years ago: could always get the tail out in the wet on its primative tyres. Top speed 45mph!
But seriously, caution in this weather is needed.

Got the car from 928.org.uk so poured over the site before buying. Glad there are some other 928 folk in the area. The car does have, ahem, an aural presence. In fact I read somewhere that the RMB has no effect on power, just extra noise so may well try to locate one (muffler/silencer) if true.

Welcome to 928 ownership from another 928uk'er. Your GT looks very sharp and obviously it's going to get driven - whatever the weather - and not just polished!

You have probably realised that this is the finest technical resource for 928 owners - I couldn't run my car without the help of people here - and also one of the most decent and courteous internet forums of which it's my privilege to be a member. 928uk adds immeasurably to the pleasure of running one of these cars in the UK and the two communities complement each other.

There was a dyno meet in early December but couldn't make it. Hopefully the next one.
Curious about supercharging but happy with what I have for the moment.
