I got both SRT-4 and 928. My SRT-4 has stage 3 turbo, water injection, big front mount intercooler, traction control and put down 365 WHP on a dyno. The 928 came with a dyno sheet from PO showing 400 WHP. I am not sure which of my car is faster.
The stock SRT-4 usually put down 240 WHP. It could be a hard time for you.

The SRT-4 will blow your doors off if he's pumped up the boost and opened up the exhaust. If it sounds like a Peterbuilt truck, don't bother racing him.

I got my *** waxed by a modified SRT4, granted it was from 0-50 and I was catching up to him when he let off. Take him out to a nice long road, with no traffic and go from 50-150.

I would not do it. A stock-ish 928 is simply not a fast car, and I don't care whether it's from a dead-stop or a roll; it's over-weight, under-powered, and combine that with the aerodynamics of a brick.
With Porsche ownership however, if you don't race the other guy, the other guy is left thinking that the Porsche may have beaten him anyway, since after all, it is a Porsche.
Now that's a win/win situation, and no one gets their feelings hurt.

power to weight the, SRT4 was better than the Viper. Any mods and you are toast off the line to at least 60...unless he is a bad driver.
Of course if you pull up to the light which car does the hot chick go with, the PORSCHE or the neon?
It's all in the perspective of if you win, so wow you beat a neon, if you lose he's claims giant killer status.

If you have a few days, order a used S4 fuel pressure regulator from 928int, and get Porken's chips - will significantly outperform the Autothority chips (assuming you have those, or ebay clones of them).
The RMB doesn't add power.. just noise. Sell it and buy an X-pipe instead.. bit less noise, but more

Dump as much weight as you can: spare, tools, washer fluid, bong, rear seat backs (, passenger seat), etc. Run with half a tank of gas or less.
With my clutch stop, S3 chips, and a '87 FPR, your 5-speed will be very hard to beat off the line (even with cats). You'll have near 300 rwtq at 2500 rpm and rear wheel drive. He'll spool up and spin his little front drive tires.
Roll-on, you may have some trouble if he has stage 2 or 3.

Swaybar must not own a 928 and wants one... To say a 928 is a slow car is patently absurd! In its day it was one of the fastest cars made and even today it is no slouch. Sure there are faster new cars now...FINALLY! Give me a break on the overweight and underpowered. While that describes me pretty well, it is not indicative of my 928's!

Might be a little closer than you think. Just for sh*ts and grins I toyed with a Subaru WRX Sti, supposedly 300 hp stock, and was amazed at how easily I walked away from it at freeway speeds. He was noticeably annoyed . His car was much more composed on the offramp though.. . Note to self: install the shocks sitting in the cabinet in the garage.
