Hold on I don't really think anyone is trying to hi jack your thread. A thread getting side tracked at some point is the norm not the exception.Getting the right size for a remote turbo is different than a regular setup. STS who is a industry leader in this is very closed lipped about what size turbo to use. There is good reason for that.
If you did a search there were other members that have tried it and failed. Also if you had done a lot of searching and read all of the posts on this subject you would see that there is very little info in this regards, making it work, proper size of turbo, and proper system for the oil.
Can you put together a NEW turbo,NEW wastegate and NEW oil system for less than 1700 and know that you will have the proper turbo? Will you have tech support to help you out?

Note: Not to stir the hornets nest or open up the Turbo vs SC debate again.
I am about to purchase a turbo for my 928 rear mount project. I have narrowed my choices down to two.
1983 4.7 L jetronic car. Stock other than Y pipe.
1. Garrett T4/T61 w/ GT35R compressor .70AR and P trim Turbine .68AR
2. Garrett T4/T67 w/T04R compressor .70AR and P trim turbine .68AR
as you can see they are speced out closely.
Question-- Is the T67 going to be too large for the 4.7 ?
I understand there are many variables that will be addressed after turbo choice. Feedback from those with working knowledge is appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

Here is the link where the T61 vs T67 on a Supra. Keep in mind the engine you have is V8 4.7 liter vs I-6 3.0 liter. The V8 will have low end torque to push the car up till the turbo kicks in.

The turbo is not primarily driven by exhaust pressure, it is driven primarily by exhaust heat. Mounting the turbo so far away eliminates a good bit of heat from the exhaust. Good luck trying to find a compressor map for a T67. I looked for a long time yesterday and couldn't find one. If you do find one, please post it here.

Hold On - my own rear-mount sizing inquiries from various Turbo Parts houses resulted in identical results as your two units listed. HP support from each unit was to-550 for T4/61 and to-700 for T4/67. Since I was specifying a 5.0L and you the 4.7L, it would follow that the T4/T61 is the more appropriate choice. I know Texas Mark's mid-mount used a T67 option if going big hp, but again that was for a 5.0L, so T4/61 again seems your best fit.
<edit> below map is for 6psi (blue) & 10psi (red), but again my calcs for 5.0L. Also, I found some notes from Greddy that indicate a T67 is a TD07 with a TD06 turbine...so a TD06SH-25G map will work.

Thanks for the info and map. I have decided on the Garrett GT 3582R -3. It is very much like the T61 but much more efficient compressor/turbine housings. Ball Bearing and water cooled. I think the way I have it spec`d out it will spool up nicely for a rear mount with a .63AR in the turbine. Of course the BB housing really helps also. Thanks again, Kevin

They can be had for $1,295. You might get lucky and find one for a hundred bucks cheaper but that's probably as cheap as you'll find one retail.

I shopped it around. Best price was $1270. delivered from Florida. Hp goals are moderate. 350-370 at the wheels. This unit will give me room to move if I want to I/C and up the boost a bit. Since car is stock ,at this point its wise to move up slowly sorting out as we go. This is not my first boosted play toy. Over the years we have built several sand cars and my son has a cute little Type 1 VW bug w/turbo. A real sleeper. Runs like a scalded dog.

Hold On - looks like a nice turbo choice. Should hit your hp goal nicely, while keeping to a moderate 8-9psi for the 4.7L.

The thing that has always confused me is how to get the oiling right. Everything else is just pipes, wastegates, and blow off valves. The oiling needs to be specifically suited to the position, durability, and size of the turbo. I have read of restrictor holes so that the turbos don't fill with oil, etc.
