Hi-
I have been searching and searching the forum for a post that took me to a link for porsche motor mounts that I saw for $178 each for the 1990 928's version of the mount. I know I saw it when I did research on replacing my mounts.
Anyone know of which supplier had the non-Ford motor mounts for this price. I have been pulling my hair out trying to find it. If not, where is the best place to get the best mount for my 90 928?
Figured I'd exhaust the search function before I asked.
Unless you are going for concours, you want the Ford mount from Roger. If you demand, he will gladly sell you genuine Porsche MM. They will not be $178 each.
1) Porsche.......soft MMs......mega $$$ and will fail
2) Ford............soft MMs......less $$ but will fail
3) Ford ...........hard MMs......less likely to fail but may cause other rubber failures.

Hey Jeffrey,
Put the ones from Roger in my car this past summer. ('90 S4) No issues and they work fine. (Will also last a while longer I'm willing to bet). A word to the wise, do the trans mounts while you're at it for full effect. (Thise are only available from Porsche and ain't cheap) but as usual, Mr. Tyson can provide at reasonable pricing. There aren't any links on here that I'm aware of that lead to $178 motor mounts. If that were the case, we all might as well hang out at the dealer.

Hi Malcolm,
Care to elaborate on the "other rubber failures"?
(Nothing worse than a failed rubber)
Porsche MM's currently $270 each - Porsche has actually decreased the price recently.
I wonder why - over stock????

Okay so now I am confused. Go with the solid mounts or the delicious liquid center mounts from Roger? Also, the "other rubber failures" has me wondering, what other rubber parts? Only trans mount I saw for the 90's was the one that is around $75. AIt's 6:30 am and I am eating breakfast and haven't broken out the WSM on the trans mounts yet.
The MM's that Roger sells are solid rubber and the best bang for the buck.
The tranny mounts are solid rubber too, but have to be from Porsche. At least they don't cost an arm and a leg.
I have installed three sets of the solid rubber ones and they work great, do the pan gasket w/stud kit as it makes the job easer to do.
Most important get your hands on a Inch Lb Torque wrench, as 20 to 25 inch lbs is a bit hard to feel and you don't want to over torque the gasket, it will split, it will leak, and you will be doing it all over again.

True that Rob
I added the 'other rubber failures' as a caution to double check fuel and coolant connections. Fully collapsed MMs cause the engine to drop and rest on the x member. The new MMs allow the engine to 'rock' which may cause an older hose to fail.
