Default '81 Power seats fit in a '79 no power seat car? Intention to restore doner seats.

I've been on the fence about restoring my current 79 manual seats because they are in great condition -- only flattened / deflated on the seat bottoms. The conudrum is that I want to have Paul make me a set of seats with his sport seat conversion. My thought was to store my original seats and then have Paul restore and convert a pair of doner seats. Now I found the doner seats, but they are power.

1. What does it take to put power seats into my non power seat car? Is it more trouble then it's worth?

2. Do 81 seats bolt right into my 79 MY.

Seems the power seats will fit, but don't know how to get juice to the seats. Anyone know if there is power to tap into under the seats or do I have to run new power lines to each seat? If so, how big of a job is it? Assume there is a open spot on the fuse box.

Pull back the front carpets, and the carpet under teh seat - chances are there is a small ( either white or black) connector under there somewhere. It has two pins that are at right angles to each other - that is the power feed for electric seats. If its not there, I can tell you how to wire them in.

I will have to wait a few days. The car is in winter storage and no where to work where it's stored. Can't bring the car home as we have snow and salt on the roads here in NJ. In the mean time, could you give me the worst case scenario to get power to the seats if the connector(s) are not under the seats?

According to the wiring diagram, fuse 14 powers the seats, and the wiring is there on both sides - all the controls are built into the seat wiring, so there is nothing to do other than run red wires from fuse 14 (if they are not there already) and splice into the red/yellow on the 2 pin plug that is already under the seats, and take the other wire in the plug ( brown) to a good ground point.
Less than an hours work - I can walk you through this step by step with pictures, if you buy my seats :-)

If the model year had the power seat option the wiring should already be there. if its not it should be quite easy to add. Do the seats have heating ? that is an extra heavy duty connection you'd need to make.

Should easily bolt in and quite likely plug in easily too...

Thanks! I'll try to get the car out of storage this weekend. Provided the roads are not still a mess. The car is kept ten minutes away but no place to work where it's kept.
