Wow is this 928 Clean
This car reminds me of the first 928 I drove in 87. It was a red 87 automatic. Red looks so good on this car.

WOW! That car has been detailed to the Nth degree! It looks GREAT in pics. Extended hub wheel, crappy stock stereo head unit, GREAT looking seats, poorly refinished air intake, but it looks better than what it would otherwise be which is cracking and losing all its paint finish...

Hmmm....something weird about the pictures. Almost looks like they were doctored to look brighter than they actually are.

Look at the photos of the rear of the car. I'm sure the car has been repainted and maybe has been rear ended, the hatch has a huge gap at the bottom and there's a sizable dimple in the pass. side rear where the quarter meets the bumper cover. or maybe it's just my imagination...

Hot post cover missing,
the hatch just appears to be sitting in the unlatched position thats my take.
Intake looks spray painted so a nice top end refresh is due that would make this car nicer.
Possibly MMs as well as the intake looks a bit low compared to the crossbrace

You guys miss NOTHING. First glance I saw a nice car that if it was not in CA I would be putting on my watch list.
Good eyes !!!
PS: Like the both "F" car next to it, miss my TR sometimes.

George how does a TR compare to the shark? I've been considering getting one for years now but I'm gunshy due to high maintenance costs. I'm also wondering if the driving experience is really better or not.

The door jams from what I see indicate the car is not a complete respray as they look original. Mounts for the shocks look like they haven't been removed so it is probably due for a set.
Very nicely detailed and the interior is immaculate. Price is a bit high considering the market right now, but it is a pretty good example. Body, paint and interior are very expensive to correct and this car looks good in those respects.

After driving the shark for 150 miles yesterday I told my wife I enjoy it more than the TR since I did not have to worry about every stone chip and somebody leaning on the body and crushing it.
The story of the 15,000 mile major for $30,000.00 is true but you can get it done for about $18,000.00 also. Parts are $1,900.00 the balance is labor.
The TR is NOT that much to maintain if you do your own work. The fact that it is 48 quarts of oil and the Oil filters from a dealer are $200.00, got mine for $50.00, same filter different box. The fact it MUST idle for 15 min before you move it since it is a dry sump car and you MUST remove the engine to do anything but change the spark plugs is a set back. Mine had 6,350 miles when I got it for $68,000.00 and it had 9,456 when I traded it for a Class A motor home that had a sticker of $97,000.00 Market was good back then. I still have some factory manuals and parts books for the car.
STAY AWAY for the single lug nut cars the wheels really do come off when you drive. The 5 lug cars 1988 and up are good and they are a great ride but the 928 is a more practical car to drive and enjoy.

George,
That is a great pic of a great collection. I would love a 360 Spider someday in the not to distant future! I also really like the Cali because I can get my wheelchair in it easily and it is still a convertible! Never really cared for the TR's even during the Miami Vice days...considering the cost to maintain (and the fact that I would have to pay someone to do EVERYTHING to it) all the better they never thrilled me!
Thanks for the report, I have always wondered about 928's vs. some of the Italian cars myself. I have driven a 430 Scud and a Maser GT. LOVED both of them! The improvements in engine and tranny over the years since the 928's were designed (and I say designed because none of the hardly changed other than the number of gears in the auto and the displacement of the engines...so they are REALLY '70's and early '80's tech!) is astounding! How smooth, fast shifting and fuel frugal the 430 Scud and Maser GT are just SHAME the poor old 928's, but can you imagine how good a 928 would be today if they built one?! UNREAL!

Sorry I dont think THAT car deserves its own thread.
Its better than the JUNK out there. But I can think of a dozen cleaner 928's just in the time its taken to post this. All owned by people who post here.

That are for sale? Could be. That car at a quick glance caught my eye as well though... it is not a bad car, or at least not bad from the pics. I know a lot of cars that are for sale that are a lot worse than this car though too...
