Default East Bay Body Shop - SF Bay Area

Well another 86.5 might be taken off the road..... got rear ended today.

Needless to say I need to locate a decent shop that will actually work on the car/provide decent quote. I'd rather keep it on the road but the left rear suspension and quarter are tweeked and at Bay Area shop rates it will be tough if not impossible.

Yeah it is drivable but there is a pull, feels like the *** end is going to swing around. That is one of the reasons I want a competent quote. The other car went under the left side, if she would have hit me direct there probably would not have been that much damage...... grrrrr

well it is a total loss.... looks like I'll keep the salvage. I'll probably part it as the body damage doesn't make it economical to fix or keep on the road. I'll deal with it after the holidays with pictures to follow....

Just a teaser, if you are in the market for a pristine navy blue interior (leather still soft with no rips) and a year old Rob Budd Dash, glove box door, Center Console, Steering wheel, and arm rest let me know. Especially if you are in the SF Bay area....

Sorry to hear of the accident. I have an '86.5 and may need some parts if you want to part it out. If you can post a list of parts available I would certainly like to know what's available. Or perhaps I can post what I need. We are close enough to each other that I can drive over to get what you have.

Actually, I could use a bag of cash most of all to pay for the restoration of my beast after 100,000 miles of driving since I got it.

Haws in Concord...ask for Kevin. I have had to, unfortunately, visit them 5 times. Once 3 times in one year...for some reason people like to rear end here in the Bay Area! :-)

I'm sad to hear about the accident, Paul!

There are a few shops that work on Porsches, but none of them is cheap - in fact, I don't think there is a cheap shop that you would want to work on a Porsche.

In Fremont, there is EMC, but you can ask any independent Porsche mechanic in the area for a recommendation. Maybe call Marvin at TheRennShop (408-727-0911) and see which shops his customers have used with good results.

Best of luck!

Just got the insurance check today. I'm going to mull it over for the next week but with a recently laid off wife a bay area mortgage and 2 kids.... well you get the picture

I tried EMC the person thinks the left rear rail is kinked and it needs a quarter panel, big $$$ on any car. I even went to the insurance companies body shop and they totalled it at their lower rates. I worry about getting it fixed on my own as I don't want to get burned on hidden damage.

Ron - I'll let you know if/when parts are going to be removed.... I'm going on vacation for a couple weeks so it will be the begining of the year.
