Default Got a Ride in the Texas Stroker Today!

Had a quick breakfast this morning.
Jarrod Wise came in from Oklahoma, so we met for Breakfast with Richard, Chris, and Joe.

Joe just got his car back from Doc Brown in California and wanted me to take her for a ride after breakfast.

This car is a "sleeper" for sure!!

At first glance, it looks bone stock. Look a little closer and you'll notice that the C2 wheels have been widened quite a bit. 245's up front, 295s out back. It looks stock, but REALLY enhanced.

Take a look under the car and you'll notice that the exhaust looks really stock "ish", only much bigger. Mandrel bent, stainless, and noticeably bigger!
Can't remember if it's 2 1/2 or 3 inch. It's got a nice dynomax muffler at the back with stock looking tips, so it really simulates a stock rear muffler. (2 pipes in, and 2 pipes out). Look toward the front and the BIG cats again look almost stock. Fed by airtubes just like stock, but a lot cleaner looking. If you didn't know 928s, you would swear it came from the factory like that. in front of that, custom headers feading the custom X pipe. The headers look like friggin works of art and fit really good!! Again, from front to back, it looks like something the factory put together as it fits so good!!!

Underhood looks bone stock as you'd imagine. Fire her up and it sounds mean, but not over the top. Maybe a little tougher than a GTS with an RMB.

Joe let me take her out and the car drives sooooo good!
In the cabin, you can hear something a little meaner under the hood, but docile at idle. Push the pedal just a little bit and the car wants to move. FAST!
Partial throttle is all you need to make this car haul arss. The extra torque/hp really makes the Rogerbox car fun!!
At highway speeds again, the car sounds just a little louder/meaner than my GTS with an RMB.

I let Joe take over and show me what she could do. The car is scary fast for sure!!! The car with the Rogerbox just plain hooks up and slingshots you forward. When you go full throttle or close to it) it sounds mean as hell!!!!
Still, not over the top loud from exhaust, but more from the growl of the motor spinning up. It sounds so damn good!!

We're almost back to my car and joe decides to pull down a private side street and go from a standing start. He does a smokey *** burnout and as we are hauling *** down this side street, a cop car emerges through his burnout smoke with his lights flashing. I **** you not, it looked like Rosco P. Coletrain from the dukes of hazzard chasing us!!!
He pulls us over, Joe rolls down the window and before Joe even says a word, the cop says, "Man, that is one cool car!!" "Guess if I had one of these I'd probably do the same thing" We proceed to tell him that the car was just built and was just shipped back from California. The cop says "Just be careful, folks don't like you putting those long black stripes on their private roads."
I about **** a solid gold brick and laughed my arss off!!

Needless to say, it was pretty fun!!

Welcome back full time to the club Joe, the Texas Stroker is one bad ****!!

Joe was gracious enough to let me drive his car at Sharktoberfest. Doc Brown's secret sauce is addicting. The entire project is with a total car in mind. Not just building a stroker but the exhaust, trans, wheels/tires etc. A total car concept.

I am anxious for my car to be done. What is Joe's Rlist name?

You have a shot of the rear muffler or a part number they used?

I got a two for one breakfast special this weekend, the usual DFW monthly GTG on Saturday followed by an informal one this morning. Had a great time at both, the DFW guys are the best.

I also had the pleasure of following Chuck and Joe in the Texas Stroker for a brief period, but peeled off to go back and pick up my wife at the hotel before the PoPo encounter. I must say Joe's widened Cup 1 rears are HUGE! 11" IIRC. They look awesome. I would happily drive cross-country if I could be behind that car the whole way, it's just gorgeous. That black GTS is a jaw-dropper for sure, and Greg Brown's work is truly impressive.

Anyway, great to see everyone this weekend and I hope to be back down before too long.

Trust me on this, James - you'll know it when you see it!

11" wide Cup 1's are kind of hard to miss, LOL. If you still need more info, she's a black on black GTS automatic.

Tony,
No pics of the rear muffler, but I'm sure someone will get one (Sterling) at the Xmas party on Wednesday if Joe makes it.

The cool thing about the rear muffler is that the exhaust tips follow the contour of the body. They are slightly staggered instead of the same length. The outboard exhaust tip is slightly shorter than the inboard. Hard to explain until you see it, but it does look pretty good!

Glad you enjoyed it, Chuck. It is a bullet, but indeed the beauty of it is that it drives like a stone stocker, until you ask it to do more. Gets 2-3 more miles per gallon than stock, too! That's almost "green", for a 928!

It's more fun than one should be allowed to have in a car. Thanks to Joe, for allowing me to build it.

Greg,
Is that a 2 1/2 or 3 inch exhaust on Joe's car?

2 1/2". That's about the limit and still be able to keep it reasonably quiet.

That was the idea. Lure them in and then suck their doors off.
