Default Power Windows

Mustv'e hit something. I took out the passengers seat and floor mats and such to get the the very bottom. I must have hit a wire? Now the power windows will not roll down. What should I check?

The window and sunroof control module is under the driver's seat in mine. Maybe it's under the passenger seat in your earlier model year cars. It's a black box about 3" x 5".

There is no control box on an '82.

In order:
1) Carefully check Fuse #21 (25 amp) and its connections.
2) Remove Relay VI. Look at the relay and identify the terminals in the socket.
- Check for 12 vdc on terminal 30. If no power, the problem is almost certainly the fuse connections.
- If there is power on Terminal 30, turn the ignition switch on and check for 12 vdc on Terminal 15.
- If there is power on Terminal 15, install a temporary jumper between Terminals 30 and Terminal 87 (not 87a). Try the windows. If they now work, the relay may be faulty. You can try opening the can and cleaning the contacts, checking for burned coils, etc.
