They are two completely different items that are installed to improve the oiling issues of the 928. This is a pretty in-depth topic, might I suggest a search? If you are tracking your car, and accusump would be the least difficult to install, and is arguably a higher priority.

Opinion — Accusump, as scraper without squirters removes slinging oil that helps to cool bottom of pistons and cylinders. Not an expert and haven't been near a Holiday Inn Express.

Its like comparing shocks and tires, different functions etc. You need the engine apart for the crank scraper, so depending on whether its already apart or not might be a good guide.

thanks for the answers...i heard that the 928 break engine for the 6 piston because when you make a corner fasts the oil pump caught air... how can resolve it ?? do not say me that i go slowly. jajajja

The search function is your friend, it's at the top right corner of the main 928 forum page, right under the page numbers.

That subject has been discussed so many time, that you gonna read an abundant literature about this problem. Good search, and remember that there is still not a simple solution to solve that problem.

I bought my scraper here, and is highly recommended for crankcase oil-control:

http://www.crank-scrapers.com/Porsche.html

I also have an accusump which is a reservoir of extra oil. No oiling-related problems while running Ronn's GT racecar at Road America, a very fast track.

As mentioned earlier, if you have the engine out, put the scraper in. Accusump, a must-have. However, if this is for a streeter, neither is necessary.

SwayBar,

Do you have your crank drilled? I know most say it is a "must have," but I trust your opinion. How much track use does your car see (approx. miles)? High RPM corners? My engine is in need of being rebuilt and I'm weighing all of my options, trying to do it as inexpensively as possible. I'm not ready to drink Mark K.'s kool-aid yet though; I know the drilled crank has merits.

I am now very concerned over piston oiling and the affect the scraper has on this very important "side benefit" of the oil slinging.

Yes.

I have about 500 miles at Road America with the crank scraper in. When I looked at the rod bearings, they looked brand new, and that's with Mobil 1.

High RPM corners?
I guess that depends upon what's considered a high-RPM corner, but they are all between 4 and 5,000 RPM. Also, according to my G2X telemetry, the car is pulling about 1.5 G's; when I'm able to take a peek at the Auto-Meter oil pressure gauge while in the Carousel, it's rock-solid.

Joseph has been running all these years with 'just' an Accusump and drilled crank without spinning a bearing, so that's precedence, and $800 well-spent for a track engine.

As far as Kibort's kool-aid goes, consider this. Joseph in a like-car is 3 seconds faster than Kibort at Road America, an eternity. Also, my grandmother drove a Caddy for years and she too never spun a bearing. Believe it or not, her Caddy did not have an Accusump, oil cooler, nor crank-scraper either; her driving style just did not require it, even though she drove that car every day...

I'm sure you already know, a Google search will reveal the benefits of a crank-scraper. Kevin at Ishihara-Johnson is the expert by-far on the subject, thus I can see no reason why anyone would want to look elsewhere for one.

By the way, I've recently seen pictures of your car; that is one sharp looking 928!

Awesome, I really appreciate the insight. That's exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for the compliments! There are some pretty big changes/finishing touches in the works now that I'm finally graduating from school. Let me know if you ever make it to any southeast track events; I'd love to check out your car and meet up.
