The Contour/Mystique rads are a lot thinner than the 928. About half the thinckness. They are designed for a 2.5L engine.

The only thing that I would like to add to this discussion is that those of you in really really warm climates and 32V engines might not get enough jam from this setup.
As well, dont forget to cut up the factory shroud to have the attachment for the intake tubes, and to seal off and force more air through the radiator.

Other than that it looks sharp.

Colin,

Good point!

We have an upper trim for our fans but it also works for other aftermarket fans.

All you do is remove the air funnels and rubber trim from the old fan shroud and install them on the upper trim.

Also has a cool 928 logo :-)

Here's what the Contour/mystique fans look like and the dimensions for it. I'll double check the pics when I get home but I'm pretty sure these are the same ones I have on my PC.

Very cool! I like the RD as well. I used to have a couple of Kawasaki triple two strokes. Fun as hell in a straight line but lousy in the corners.

If you think the RD/RZ350 were good, you should try the big one, the RZ500. I used to have one and it was a giant killer.

Use caution, that one, like many others are NOT OEM fans, they are cheap copies made to look and fit the OEM. Sure bet they don't use the same grade Siemens motor etc.

Best price I found for the Motorcraft fan was http://www.silverstatefordparts.com where its about $240 new. Used stuff on ebay seemed in the same price range as the Mark8 fan, about $75, but my guess is this is an easy find in the local Pick a Part.

This isn't going to flow as much as the Mark8, or even the Taurus fans, but for the supercharger guys it has more middle of the radiator clearance since the motors are smaller and offset to the sides.

Our radiators are cross flow, hot on the intake side, cooler on the outlet side, not a big difference if they aren't clogged top to bottom, so given a choice put the fan on the hot side.

Don't hook up an OEM fan to any switch, use a relay at least rated double the current, like a 75 amp Bosch.

I would say: why buy it new, when it can be bought as good as new for only a fraction of the price.
The drawings look very much like the fan shroud I used. I made some new pictures of the bottom end of the rad and fan. There's also a better view of the RD/RZ350 on the background and also part of a kitcar standing on its side - another project waiting for excessive amounts of time...

On the second picture on the first page, you can see one plastic hook, that is shaped around the middle of the top of the radiator with help of a dremel. On the top right of the picture, next to the connection of the upper hose, there used to be a fixation point for the Ford. That needed to be cut away. Lower down on that side is another one that with a seperate brackt is hooked behind the hook on the Porsche rad (invisible on the picture).

On the left side of the picture, you can just see an aluminimum bar that crosses from the upper to the lower fixation of the fan shroud and that hooks behind the other side of the Porsche rad.

It feels quite secure, but while reviewing my own pictures, I noticed I can add some brackets at the bottom. I will do that just to be sure.

For now, I will switch both fans on and of at the same time and remove my front mounted fan.

Thanks for all your comments and help!
