Would kind of idle continuously, but not well.
My fuel pump cover was already off. I got out of the car and held my hand on fuel pump / pump wasn't running.
Turned off the stumbling/idling car. Grabbed the wiring diagram from the door pocket. Pulled relay XX (fuel pump) and inserted jumper / pump began to run.
Turned ignition. Car revved great.
Turned it off, removed the jumper.

Banged relay XX 3 times against the rocker panel. Reinstalled the relay.
Car restarted (brother-in-law now laughing his *** off) and we drove home.

By the way, the panel was polished clean, fan is sealed so no leaks, car had been in the garage for a week prior to driving and relay was brand spanking new 2 months ago (I had replaced 8 at once). All fuses new too.

Oh Boy,

I guess this is something to look foward to when I drive my 928. On pins and needles? LOL. Sucks to be stranded on the road, but glad you got it figured out and made it home. I guess its a good idea to keep spare relays. fuses, jumper wires etc with you.

When i bought my 87 S4 the car would start run and stop perfectly... EXCEPT in cold weather. When warm the car starts and runs fine. When cold (really cold) the car would crank but wont start. It was the Temp Sensor II that was defective (showed infinity resistance when cold instead of 4-5K Ohms)... Anyways, replaced it and problem solved.

Unhappy I have a non-starter and it's driving me nuts!!

Hi, this seems like a great place to shout for help. My car seems to have different symptoms to most other non-starters in that it starts every time from cold and will keep running until I switch her off, after that it is anyones guess. In desperation I am halfway through ripping the immobiliser out....
