Yipes! Is that a Strosek rear wing on top of the OB spoiler? What is that thing at the top of the rear hatch?
Looks like 18" Cup II knock - offs.
Nice Sport seats though.
It is an 85 S model. S4 = 87-91

Interesting car. 85 w/ 89 S4 motor (rebuilt). 5 speed, sport seats, 18" Cups, Konis, Big brakes, H4's (or H5's), custom exhaust, repaint.
Lot's of good stuff here for one not looking for an all original.
I would loose the additional rear spoiler, odd interior trim, and raise the ride height

Just read the add folks...
BTW, no affiliation.
Under the hood the motor has been changed out to a 1989 928S4 motor. The motor was completely rebuilt around 100 miles ago costing in excess of $7,000.

"rebuilt" - hmmmm that always leaves me wondering.. these engines are pretty bullet proof. Wonder what was all included in the rebuild. New pistons? Bored?

Oh my I love this line...."With headers and a full exhaust system the car does not sound like your typical flat 6 cylinder Porsche or even 8 cylinder 928 Porsche, but more like a modified Corvette with a deep, throaty rumble....." Or like the old rusted out 65 Chevy pickup truck

Some may consider it easier to swap engines.
Unless the seller has receipt for the rebuild, assume it to be more of a refresh. Better yet, assume it's a drop and swap.
The fact the valve covers and intake are painted lead me to believe it may have had at least a refresh.

Leather dash and center console. But somebody bought an interior carbon fiber trim kit from JC Whitney and the rear wings are junk.
Not worth $12,900 IMHO.

S4 swap is typically very messy electrically, might be instructive to look at what was done. Does it have S4 brains, or some kind of mods to the early brains.

I'd like to take it out on a "test drive" for a few hours and return it to them with comfort seats and slots.
Seriously, I'd sure like to have those sport seats. They don't look perfect, but I'll bet with some reconditioning they'd clean up quite nicely.
However, the thought of a $12,900 Franken-shark is scary indeed. I wouldn't want to pay half that given what surely must be a difficult car to sell.

Franken-928!
That's exactly what I thought when I saw this "thing".
Looks like it might also have S4 brakes.
But for $12K? You could buy a real S4/GT for that, right?
