Default Stereo Upgrade Install Pics Included

I did a stereo upgrade today on my Cassirot 928 since I had the day off. So far i'm very happy with the upgrade. I was trying to get away without using a sub but I'm going to have too. This setup with out a sub has alot of mid bass punch but is lacking the low end stuff. Below is a link to my webpage that has the install pics. Hope it helps others on the list. Enjoy.

Appreciate the writeup. I'm planning an upgrade too. How's the sound from the door speakers? The write up said Diamond Audio D363, but that's a 6" component. Is it D343? They are listed as 4.5" so I wouldn't think they would fit. Also the mounting depth of 1.8" would be pretty close I would think. Seems like I tried some that were 1.75 and the magnet hit the metal behind the speaker.

Also, really like the way the Diamond grills are so similar to stock. I was planning on keeping the stock grills, but with those I might reconsider.

Ops.. Don you are correct I made a typo. I do have the Diamond Audio D343 4" speakers not 4.5" speakers and they fit just fine in the factory mounting locations and I had no depth issues. Overall they sound very good for the money. I prefer them over the MB Quarts which to me are rather bright. These seem to have a bit more detail and sound fuller. Plus I didn't want to spend $200+ on front speakers! Good Luck!

I'm amazed on the door speakers. The spec on depth for Diamond Audio D343s is shown as 1.8 inches on the sites I just checked, and my door will definitely not accept a speaker that deep. Wonder if they could have changed something on later models? 1.5 inches deep is about all that will fit my door without modifications, spacers, etc.

This is pretty frustrating, I wish I could see it with my own eyes to know it will work!

Tom,

I measured the depth before I bought them. I don't have the measurements right in front of me anymore as I'm at work but I thought all 85 and later 928's had the same mounting depth? Maybe not. If I have time tonight I will take a picture of the Diamond Audio 4" driver and the factory driver side by side to give you an idea of the difference. If I remember right my factory drivers were 1.75" deep.

What's the deal with all these avatars with hot women draped over their 928?

Near topic, glad to see you got the mech stuff worked out, Dan. Now you can keep the car, and do cool projects like this. I prefer these over the mech. stuff anyday.

Thanks! If I could do it all over again I would do one major project (torque tube than engine refresh) at a time not mutiple (not both at the same time). I love the mechanical aspect of working on these cars its a good brain kicker (makes you think). However it is nice to get a break and do fun projects like this as well, no doubt!

The Diamond Audio web site shows D343 as 4.5" speakers unless I'm missing something.

Agree with Tom, the mounting depth is a concern, but if they work for you...

Would be nice to find these retail at some place that will let you carry one out to the parking lot and check the fit.

On another web site I found "Mounting Diameter: 3.9 inches", so maybe these are 4" speakers but the manufacturer decided to quote the outside diameter for some reason?

Don,

I don't know than...?? Even on the box they came in states "4" speaker set". I would be more than happy to take a picture of the box if you like. I will also do measurement across the driver to confirm 4" but never thought to do that since they fit just fine in my door panels as pictured. My quess is they are quoting outter dimensions?? You can go to diamonds website and they have a spec sheet you can download with all the dimensions, maybe this would be helpful to you if you are interested in them.

These speakers are the aluminum drivers not the kevlar.
