About the only good thing about lambo doors on a 928 is that it would **** the purists off, and I am ok with that.

blitz... IIRC, the Lambo Countach had full-frame doors and looks great with those doors... the REAL Lambo doors. But then, the upper door/roof frame was designed for vertical engagement and seal.

The down side (and the butt-ugly side) of the aftermarket 'Lambo' doors is they don't stay in line with the edge of the body and don't lift in a true vertical fashion -they almost always cant outward even when fully opened... making them look awkward and out of place on any car.

To get true vertically forward opening doors, a custom shop would have to notch the fender for the hinge & incorporate a hinge cover as part of the actual door skin, and then move most of the upper (inner) frame work from the door to the A-B pillar/roof frame. The door would then seal against the reworked frame rather than into it. The latch would be a fairly straight-forward fix to have it engage vertically instead of horizontally. A grab handle mounted to the lower edge of the inner door panel will enable driver or passenger to reach and pull down the door. These could be hydraulically operated as well -either full function or just the latching (like modern trunk lids).

The original shape of the 928 doors lends themselves to work in the vertical sense -only the upper, inner part of the window/roof frame & hinge placement would be the real hurdles. And, as Nicole pointed out: you would still be FUBAR'ed in a rollover scenario.

It can be done right (not cheap) but, IMHO -Lambo doors belong on Lambos.
