I've experienced more than a few on various models (sorry, no 928's). All of them were a bit clumsy and awkward, most of them leak.
Here is a DIY........fits "any vehicle"

This I wouldn't agree with, 928 doors are pretty light, in fact without the glass they are about as light as a door can get. I just think as I mentioned before that any door with a frame around the glass, wouldn't look right as Lambo doors.

I want the wheels of that Koenigsegg... but not the doors.
I can't help it, but I think most of the door modifications on the 928 look goofy. Besides, I would be concerned about getting out in case of a rollover ending in the car upside down. That alone would be a "no go" for me - I have been in that situation before in a 911, but fortunately one door opened.
The new AMG Mercedes SLS has an interesting solution to that safety problem: If the car lands upside down after a few seconds the hinges separate and allow the doors to be pushed out.

Not true. The 928 doors are lighter than alot of other OEM doors. I have the weight with full glass and electrics written down somewhere. I'll try to dig it up. But when I gave that # to the aftermarket door hinge manufacturer they were surprised at how light they were and said that it wouldn't be a problem at all.
These are available. I was waiting patiently for the kit to be released for a couple of years only to find out that the hinge kit is almost $9,000

It's just sad that so many people do the job partially, and forget to budget for a chromed chain link steering wheel, synthetic fur dash covers & more importantly, a large blue diamond for the center of the dash...
