Default HVAC Control Head

The automatic A/C system in my 83S seems to work fine except for one problem. When I try to set the selector to the OFF position, the internal relay "buzzes" like its confused which way to go. I even took covers off unit and can see relay buzzing away. Could this relay be getting conflicting signals from controller or posibly some type of back voltage/bad ground situation that is literally confusing the relay in the Off position. OR Is the dam thing just weak and shot. Researching, I have found no direct replacement for this relay. Is the last resort to wire and external relay into controller or am I making big work out of something easy? Thanks in advance for any good advice.
