Any tips on putting the cover back over the sunroof motor?

I seem to remember when I was changing roof antenna that the long metal spring (looks like Porsche made it from a coat hanger!) can tuck itself away under the roof when cover's off. I was baffled for a minute when I went to put cover back on till I found it. Look/reach around rear of sunroof and you'll find it.
I also have a photo I can post tomorrow if one hasn't been posted by then,

Here are a few pics. I still don't see the spring thing you guys are talking about.

Not sure but look at the black wire behind the green wire in your picture.
correction! The spring is missing from the clip in your photo. Look on the floor and under the seat for a black wire!

How do you like that?! I do not have this little spring wire job, at least not visible. I will poke around to see if I can find it...
Thanks for the pics guys!!

Brian,
By looking at your pictures and Calgary Ole's pictures, it seem you do not have that spring clip.
It looks like it should be screwed in at "A", runs through "B" bracket and then gets pushed into "C" bracket on your cover.

Yep. I guess it was like that when I took it off I didn't hear anything break or find any broken pieces. I did add a piece of coat hanger but I still can't get the front portion on. i'm certainly past frustrated...so I'll leave it for a few days and try again later. I did notice that the plastic cover (w/o vinyl interior cover) goes for $100! Geez...for a piece of plastic? Oh well.

Brian,
See my updated picture above. Is the cover oriented the right way? Those front brackets (one is broken) I think should slide over the headliner first then you attached the spring to the "C" bracket and push the cover up in place. The way the manual shows it, you almost have to be in the luggage area facing the front of the car.

I think the biggest issue with this is broken clips on the front edge - they are fragile and seem to get more brittle with age. Often folks have no idea how to get this panel off and just start pulling/levering on it (usually on the front edge).
Once broken - repair is awkward - you can make up new aluminum hooks - usually the base of the old hooks is still there but the tips are broken off (as in the picture a few posts back). I have repaired one by filing down the base of the plastic hook and drilling & screwing the new aluminum strip to it then JB welding around that area for extra strength... Doesn't look too elegant but works OK.
The rear attachment is made of spring steel - a coat hanger will not do the trick - it will deform and not spring back far enough when stressed. Visit a Porsche scrapyard to find the real thing...

One of my tabs was broken and I drilled and bolted a metal L bracket to it. That wire at the back can be a real PITA to get back on right!

Looks like I am missing this spring arm too! It doesn't much look like anything was ever installed there. I hooked my antenna wire under the little screw-in clip, as you can see...
I called one of the suppliers to see if they have the spring arm, but there is no part number for it, so he's going to see what he can find.
Anyone fab up a replacement yet? If so, please share...

Ted,
Would it be possible to take a picture of the repair that you did to the broken front clip?
Mine has the same problem and it would be great to see what a repair looks like.
Thanks
Adam
