Default Repainting My Turbo 16V

As many of you know, Mark Kuhn and I have been repainting my 1982 16V 928 Turbo (yes turbo, more on that later). I thought I would go ahead and start a thread to document the progress. The car will be repainted in the same color, Platinum Metalic. The pinstripes are deleted and I am replacing the flag mirrors with GTS mirrors.

Didn't look too bad to begin with. I don't see the turbo yet... Painting before wrenching?

A few more... Check out the last pic. That fender isn't wet. It's just been blocked like crazy with more to come.

Your right, it did look pretty good to begin with. But there were spots that had been dameaged by a car cover blowing in the wind.

Oh believe me. There has already been a ton of wrenching. It has to get painted sometime and I will always want to do something else to the car.So in that sense, if I had waited to "finish", I may never have painted it.

It's there. I promise.

Looking good! I wanted to come down to bradenton to check you guy's out but my little one was sick so that was that. Can't wait to take that drive, maybe this weekend.

Nope. Not rolling the fenders. I almost converted this car to a widebody but I didn't have the money since I was saving for a wedding. Now I sort of regret not doing it but it will look great no matter what.

Looks gorgeous. I feel that high quality automotive painting is becoming tougher and tougher to find these days.

Looks great Fabio!

Either the turbo is drivers side front or someone took one in the rear!

Of course you needed a hair dryer Fabio.... Silly me!

Thanks guys. Mark really knows his stuff and he is there to guide me as I go. He is also helping another Rennlister ( Tedward ) with his 928 right now. Ed and I call it "Sanding Academy".

Nope, and nope. ;-) I'll post more info when its ready to be revealed. It has been a long road to get it sorted properly. Next will come the intercooler. I think I may pull the turbo system off of this car and put it on my 84 for awhile so that I can continue the work while the 82 is being painted and reassembled.
