I doubt they'd go on Amazon to sell pirated stuff. Some ebay user made on a deceased granma's name would be best bet for such dubious "enterprise"...

Ebay and CL I can see Porsche letting slide or not noticing, but Amazon, hard to imagine something without Porsche's consent is being sold in their name.

Might as well just wait and see what it is. Fairly certain it won't have all of the supplemental manuals and publications Jim includes, but $30 would be small price to pay if it has better electrical diagrams etc.

Might also be a good time to keep a low profile regarding Jim's work. A real publisher with an active product is going to crack down on bootlegs of all types.

Can anyone check if the above mentioned publisher actually exists? I couldn't find their website, which seems fishy considering their supposed line of work.

I ordered a set from Amazon. Let's hold tight on speculation for a few days.

I'll know the difference between a copy of Jim's CDs and something done with PAGs permission

Page and CD images are from a 911 Carrera manual in German.

Let's see what shows up.

I'm interested in what we have here too...

If it is a genuine Porsche fresh version the nicest features for the wiring diagrams IMO would be single page full width scans & to have hyperlinked inter-sheet tags as well as searchable inter-sheet tags... of course for '89 decent scan quality would be nice too

Fully comprehensive generally searchable text in the rest of the body would also be good.

My comment about deleting threads wasn't a jibe at this thread - the OP had 4 or 5 duplicate threads posted at the time. I suspect he's another user account with a broken delete button (wouldn't be the first).

Interested to know what manuals these are, and if they're something new.

Do you understand the irony here?

And at $70 a set someone is making a killing on them.

Both irony and stealy, but so far no facties.

$70 btw isn't just the WSM, its two more CDs of things like the transmision supplement etc.

royal_vale_publishers is listed as the vendor on Amazon. I emailed a few questions and got a response quickly from John Lipton Medina Publishers Inc <medina.publishers@gmail.com> So far googling has turned up nothing but ads linked to amazon.

BTW product has jumped to #87 in sales so people must be buying them like crazy today. I'm willing to wait until we know a bit more about it.

If it is from Porsche, I would think it is well done.

Just because it's on Amazon and just because it says "genuine Porsche" doesn't mean its legit guys.

Amazon acts as a 3rd party front for an untold number of resellers. They do not nor could they police everything.

For $30 its worth a roll of the dice, if it turns out to be legit, awesome.

I agree, but still, probably ebay would be far safer for someone willing to sell pirated stuff.

Same here, especially considering the photos on Amazon are not consistent with the product description.

Besides, the free stuff is still here http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm and, if this "royal_vale_publishers " or "John Lipton Medina Publishers Inc" or whatever they're called turn out to be selling the real deal, I'm sure they won't stop until everyone willing to spend 30$ has a copy. So really, I see zero risc in waiting a bit.
