Default Custom Spark Plug Wires?

Has anyone made custom spark plug wires for their 928? I was wondering if it was possible? Mallory and Accel make kits for the American cars but not sure about the European cars.

Nology used to but not sure if they still do.

You'll find most folks here prefer stock Beru.

IMHO only, but Beru works, and I don't believe anything a wire company has to say about improving anything.

Aww c'mon.. you have to admit, plug wires made out of Monster Cable digital audio cables would be the bomb!

I agree with danglerb. Don't go cheap. I wouldn't put that crap Accel set on my wife's Mazda. Give me a break!

The Nology wires are very strange and can really do weird things if the grounds are not perfect. Beru full sets are very expensive but are the way to go IMHO. Treat your car with some respect and get it the right wires. I beat the living crap out of my 89 and it has been stone reliable because it gets good care with good products.

i dont like 5mm wires, they are kinda dinky. The end up looking like shoe lace or something.

For the longest time all the wire manufacturers said bigger thicker is better. Then a couple years ago someone was trying to say "with this technology our thin wires are superior" Who knows

As long as you keep it straight that Monster et al are not technology companies, they are marketing companies, you should be fine. That means pay no attention to anything they say and examine the products without bias. Some are OK, some are not so good.

The Beru set of OEM wires are $195 and the Bosch set of OEM are $169.95.
I would not use anything other than OEM on my cars - but that's me.

Jason
I have used Moroso ultra 40 wire on the dragster and my other cars with great results. Available as a universal kit or by the spool.

If "Ruby" needed some new wires I would make up a set if the terminations were good.
On the other hand Beru seem to last decades...IMHO have a go at making a set <$100 if no go spring for the beru or Rogers alternate cheapie set.

No need to go all exotic on spark plug cables:

http://www.kingsbornewires.com/categ...?categoryId=85

I "discovered" this place on Ferrari Chat while looking for a way to rebuild some 355 ignition wires. If these are "good enough" for an 8,500rpm Ferrari motor, they will work just fine in a 928.

This site also sells the crimp on ends - I would spend the money on a good ratcheting crimp tool.

Advance auto sells a direct replacement set w/ a lifetime warranty for $89 I believe the brand is Accel. I have used these on two 928's without any complaints. The have the Beru style ends on them as well. The only difference I can see from stock is that they don't label each wire with the cyl. #.

The only issue I've run into with non Beru brand wires is the ends themselves. The clips that snap over the spark plugs were so tight, it was almost impossible to "click" down the end over the plug.
I ran into three sets that were like this. I ended up removing the ends from the new wire sets and re-using the Beru ends from my old wires.

The real kick in the pants is these were Bosch brand wire sets!!
