I am actually slowly shopping for a 928. Looking primarily at 1986, 1991 and 1993-5.

Anyway, I can tell you first hand that you can get financing for one of these (especially this model) in the U.S.

As others have said, if you have good credit, a good debt to income (dti) and if the car meets NADA or other "book values" then many banks and, especially, credit unions, will finance. I happen to belong to 2 credit unions, 1 military related (via my late father-although almost anyone can join) and 1 via work.

If you can't meet those requirements (unfortunately this vehicle comes in above book value-although it is in EXTRAORDINARY condition from what I've read and from the pictures), you can always go through a company that specializes in class car financing. I do know one is just under 10% APR for 60 months with 10% down. You are looking at a big nut per month (on top of insurance-required-and on top of maintenance) but if you know you can afford it for 5 years, go for it!!

Good luck!

Michael
You can finance these cars and if you know where to look, the book value will have absolutely nothing to do with how much $ you can get financed. Try JJ Best Banc (www.jjbest.com I think...), they finance on a purchase agreement between the two parties and classify the 928 GTS as an exotic which qualifies for up to a 10 year term (why you would do that is beyond me.....). They don't even look at the valuation books but you've got to have really good credit...... I have used them several times in the past and would highly recommend them.

Thank you. Well, simply, I love the original design look of the 1986 combined with the later, more powerful engine. The cut out tail lights and subtle spoiler are sweet. I also like the wheels on the 1986-although the phone dials are nice asa well.

I like the 1991 because it adds a lot of value/features and safety-plus it's a great performer.

I like the GTS because, well, who doesn't :-)

Of course I'd like to find a 93 GTS at a bargain price-a boy-man can dream :-)

Those vary so wildly in purchase cost that almost no one looking at 86's can afford an S4 (that is why, in general, they are looking at '86's) and of course GTS's are the cream of the crop and you pay EXTRA for that, normally 2X a '91 cost for that!

Good luck in your search! There are some GREAT cars for sale from some awesome enthusiasts right here on this forum! Maybe one of them will work out for you!

They would only offer me a 5 year term-but for this they might offer longer.

Mick,

Good luck on your search! Don't know what your budget is, but don't expect any "deals" on GTS's... There are so few of them out there and they are all heading towards Texas anyway, so if you don't live down here you will have an even more difficult time finding a GTS! LOL!

I look forward to hearing more about the cars you find...again, look here on this forum for a good one, you never know what you might find!

Talk to Al Miranda, they classify the GTS as an exotic and WiLL go as long as ten years if you desire......

Found a new home for it, yet? There are people out there looking for GTS models - I know of two in the area. Hopefully one of them will ****** and take good care of it.

Car looks and drives great. Right now the car rides on RH 3.6 turbo wheels with correct offsets. I am planning on returning the car to the OEM Cup 1 wheels as correct for the car, but the wheels could be had with the car, depending on price.

Hi Jim,

How much for the RH3.6.Turbo wheels?

[SOAPBOX MODE]

Maybe I'm too cynical. My thinking on purchasing 'interesting' cars is that you are probably way underfunded if you need to finance the purchase. Jim's car is great with all the work that's already been done, but still here will be first-year costs for stuff to personalize to your taste. Should something happen that needs more funding, will you have to park the car? These cars are expensive enough to maintain as it is, and they do continue to depreceiate. Paying fat interest on top of the purchase seems wrong to me.

I confess that I'm in that apparently-rare group of grandchildren of depression-era family, folks that managed to survive a huge economic meltdown by not borrowing for non-essentials. I've never in my life borrowed money to buy a car I couldn't pay cash for, 'interesting' of not. Real estate is the only thing, and even then all RE investment loans were paid off way early.

[/soapbox mode]

Anyway, back to your regularly-scheduled programming...
