Default Mechanical difference between 1984 Euro and US

I had a US 1984 that I found easy to work on and I am probably getting a 1984 Euro 5 spd this week. What is the major difference between the two? Does the Euro have a stronger tranny or the weaker tranny? Can I swap parts such as LH, EZK, fuel pump etc between the two?

Thanks

'84 US is L-Jet
'84 Euro is LH. Injectors can't be swapped for sure. Doing so will burn up LH computer.

The 84 US uses L-Jet fuel injection and the Euro uses the LH. Those parts are not even close to the same. The heads, intake cams and pistons are different. The Euro has the twin distributors so the rotors, caps and wires are different. The 84 Euro has antilock brakes too I believe.

Regarding the transmission, I'm not sure if the Euro's got the Borg Warner synchro's a little earlier than the US cars. The US cars got them in 85. I have heard but cannot confirm that the Euro's have a higher percentage of LSD's so check that too. That would be a great bonus.

You should save yourself the trouble and just send the euro my way. I'll even trade you for an 84 US to keep things easy for ya'. ;-)

Well, I am alway up for a good challenge. Its an abandoned vehicle that is being sold with abandoned documents and a I need to apply for a title. its being sold "with a bad starter". Usual rust at the rear quarter panel, front number needs repaint, no sunroof, has side strips and interior needing work. I am going to look at the car tomorrow with tools (and an 84 starter and fully charged battery). I may first try to buy it as is in non-running condition if the price is right.

Engine code should be an M28-21 if it's a 5 speed.

AFAIK nothing got a Borg 5 spd until 1985. Other than the motor and brains, and maybe final drive ratio on the tranny, Euro vs US in 1984 is mostly cosmetic, ie CE panel same ceramic fuses, wiring maybe minor differences.

Since its a potential interference motor, maybe think about turning it over by hand first.
