1991 928S4 for sale
I've been thinking more seriously about moving to a GTS or GT 5 speed, so I've decided to put mine on the market. This used to be Ed Hughes car and he took good care of it...here is the thread that Ed posted when I bought it from him:

Rennlist price is $18k. 66,000 miles, Automatic Transmission. Car has GTS side mirrors and color matched wing. Updated shifter and X-pipe. All fluids (Brake, PSD, Trans, Oil, Coolant)recently changed, new brakes, new battery, new tires with 2,000 miles on them. Timing belt recently retensioned. Exterior and Interior are extremely clean. Only minor wear on driver seat bolster. About the only thing wrong with the car right now is a pesky problem with the airbag light coming on when I hit a bump or expansion joint. It isn't stored as a fault code, but I've had no luck fixing it. Other than that, a real clean example.

The airbag circuit doesn't use any of the chassis points for ground due to the possibility of a lightning strike. The wiring is all self-contained from the controller to the sensors and the ignition pills. Most likely cause of the fault is a partially connected harness from the sensors up in the corner of the dash just under the A pillar or a lose connected harness to the ignition pills which are under the steering column and behind the glove box.
It could also be at the connector to the airbag control box in the center console. Beware, all the screw connectors on the airbag system are the special non-tamper type. You have to have a special tool to work on them, or a pair of vise grips to pull them off after grinding the edge of the head.
It pays to go through all the wiring harness on the airbag system and clean all the connectors to get the resistance right. Out of tolerance resistance measurement is the most common cause for airbag faults.
It's a nice car. I've been through it a bit and it was very clean when Ed got it, and he made it even better.

Eric it's definitely a good time to updgrade and you will love the 5spd!
Be aggressive with selling your car, don't hesitate to put it up on ebay and similar to get the word out.
Good luck!

Disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes before starting the work. If you have access to a hammer or spanner that would be best. It's strange that the airbag controller doesn't throw a code.

From: Back in Michigan - Full time!
I have been through this car. It is a very nice car. Nothing need to be done mechanically. We just did the fuel lines, tranny service, and a bunch of other things that I can't recall.
Eric-
Glad to see you're not leaving us. I think we had problems with my diagnotic tester the last time you were over. I don't recall which laptop I used, but one of them required a serial-to-USB adapter. I recently found the one I had been using caused problems. I have new one that works fine. I don't think I'll be around this weekend, but maybe another weekend we can hook it up and see what we can see.

Thanks, Dave. Yes, Andrew and I removed the steering wheel to slightly adjust after the alignment. I removed the airbag again to check the connectors and everything looked fine.
