Default Gorgeous '91 S4 (60K miles) for sale in Dallas, TX

Well, I'm getting ready for the move back to California. As part of this, I've reluctantly decided I'm going to sell my beautiful 928.

She's just under 60,000 miles, but that will get crossed in the next couple of days, if I drive her. TB/WP done 12/06, 17" 10 spoke wheels (car will be sold with the original D90's as well), X-pipe w/cats (stock exhaust included), Grand Prix white, Cashmere leather interior (lots of leather-A pillars, headliner, etc), Blaupunkt AM/FM CD, rear air, custom seat covers, Porsche car cover, GTS mirrors and wing (painted to match).

This car is about as good, interior, exterior and mechanically, as they come. I don't think I'm overstating that fact, as I think anyone in the DFW area will attest to. I'll be hard-pressed to find another in like condition when I decide to get back into 928 ownership.

I'm going to clean her this weekend and take some interior pics, which I'll post. She'll then go on eBay. I thought I'd throw it up here first. If you have any questions, my e-mail is: efhughes3 'at' verizon.net.

I'd certainly like to ask more, but I think I'm realistic in an asking price of $23,500.

PS- She won her class at the PCA/Maverick Region Concours last May...

Ed:

It would be nice to have a virtual bookend set, even if my end has a few more miles and nicks on it.

This car is a 98 out of 100 and a credit to its owner.

Ed you are a great friend and a tremendous asset to the 928 DFW community.
I plus many others will be very sad to see you go.
However once a good friend always a good friend.

Sorry been watching to many "chick flicks" with the family.

Why am I concerned - he drives a lawn mower

Ed: Well, I'm definitely sad to hear you are leaving not only the DFW 928 group, but the 928 world in general. Particularly now that you are moving closer to 928 International, Greg Brown, and many 928 owners!

Are you sure you want to give-up the 928, instead of the Beetle?

Well, if for some reason I don't sell it, we would make nice bookends with you in N Calif, and me in S. Calif.

Thanks Roger! I'm going to miss the band of rascally varmints in the TX 928 crowd...but, I'll be here a little while yet.

I paid about $25K with 36,000 miles a couple of years ago, and while it was a garage queen then, she's an even better driver now...

As to my $23.5K asking, I gotta start somewhere.

Ed--

Kinda looking forward to having you in the neighborhood. No need to dump the 928, there is in fact a core group of owners here.

Others--

Don't even think of bashing this car or the asking price. The market needs a boost, and a pristine example like this is the way to get that done. Talk it up!

Thanks Bob. I'm not selling cuz I wasn't sure about the group there, I know you have a good core out there, and still look forward to meeting some of you. I've just got to simplify a bit, and buy a more "normal" car for business purposes as I'm going to be back to driving 30 or 40,000 miles a year for business. My wife is capping the number of cars at 3 for now, until we get settled in and learn what our lives are going to be like. I've got her sold on the three car garage now as a necessity, now I need to work on upping it to 4 cars.

Just get a 3 car garage with 20ft ceilings.. wives don't tend to realise you can stack cars up, until you buy a lift and demonstrate

Where in SoCal are you going to be Ed? You're bringing the 911, yes? We'll have to introduce you to the shows at Cars and Coffee or the VCR show up in the valley. Looking forward to seeing you!

Uh, hopefully that 30K miles of driving per year isn't in LA county, or it'll take you ALL YEAR to rack up that many miles!

Default Remove my temptation: Buy Ed's 928

I was considering buying Ed's car but just couldn't put together enough $$ at the time. In retrospect I kick myself for not doing so.

Instead, I bought an '88 5-speed "deal" with 41K miles on it for $16,000 (plus another $1500 shipping). By the time I get it into the condition of Ed's beautiful white 928, I'll have spent more than Ed's asking price...not counting my labor. (My S4 is an AZ car and has some sun damage and deferred maintenance).

I believe that buying a known pristine and babied example like Ed's car is money (and satisfaction) ahead. If someone would buy my S4 for $14K, or my '94 968 for $16K, I'd try and buy Ed's car tomorrow before someone else does. Even though my S4 has new paint, excellent interior, excellent mechanics, new Tbelt and WP, new radiator, etc. But it does have some warts that Ed's car does not have. I favor absolutely pristine cars and I'd rather have Ed's car for the money.

Ed's 928 should be a great car for someone. Wish it was me but my wife and I finally "compromised" on me only having two sports cars at a time.

Nope...I've never met Ed...but I do know his car from reading about it in Rennlist. There aren't a lot of 928s like his around any more. If you want to "step up" here's your chance.

This car has no blemishes at all. Seats are perfect, dash is perfect, pod is perfect.

Paint has no dings or scratches. Shocks are perfect, tires are perfect.

I didn't know how a great 928 drove until I was in Ed's car and it is the example that I am shooting for on mine.

Hate to see you go Ed.

Guess that means we won't be seeing your shark, er..., I mean YOU at SITM this year??? That just won't do! It was great to see you at Rennsport Reunion/Sharks at Daytona a few months ago, even without your shark!

I think of your 928 as a sister shark to my wife's white '91. In fact, she wants to paint the rear wing white & get the aero mirrors like yours. Hmmmmm maybe I could talk her into buyin yours & sellin hers!! I like the tan interior more myself with the white exterior. Unfortunately, I know she'll say that she likes the dark blue interior more & her's is a very nice 928, just turned 47k miles too. I'll mention to her that you're selling yours & give my best sales pitch!!

In salute to your 928 ownership Ed, here's two pics of our white '91, one with Pamela driving back from SITM '07 & one on display at Rennsport Reunion in Nov. Then a couple of pics of your gorgeous white '91 at SITM '07.

Best wishes Ed, you and your 928 are first class all the way in my book! Like many say on here, you'll be back!! Least I am certain that all of us are hoping so!!
