Thanks. You know, I've never been in a hospital before, except as a place to work or visit sick and dying relatives. I've never taken anything more than ibuprofen and nothing chronically until now. So, this was a certified mind-blowing event for me. And since I never felt sick at all prior to the operation, it felt like I was on some fake reality TV show - "Heart Surgery Island" but I knew it was real and I couldn't just walk off the set if I didn't like what was happening. I'm not sure what changes this will bring, but I have been doing a lot of reconsidering of my future. Still I think the 928 and the 928 community will be a constant. I got in my car today and started the motor for the first time in two weeks. Of course, it started right up. I let it idle for a bit and then I punched the throttle and bathed in the glorious roar. Yeah, baby!

Like you I never had anything and got a chest zipper instold in 2005 it changed my outlook as well so within 3 weeks of the operation (was not suppost to drive for 6 weeks) I flew to FL and bought the GTS - for me the car has always been excellent therapy and I'm sure it will continue to be the same for you.

A CAT scan of my aorta prior to surgery. The part from the heart to the carotids ain't normal. It should be no larger than the later parts.

One thing i give a lot of credit to in the medical industry in this country is the technology we have available and that is being develop by some pretty bright folks. Amazing that they can get images like that and map out a plan of attack before going in. Wonder whats around teh corner in another 20...30..50 years!

Yeah my mother in law had a similar thing done actaully and the scar is a very fine line. She had a valve replacement but chose the "pig valve" . I always tease her becasue the dog chooses to run to her before everyone else in the family now.

This was a new (month old) CAT scanner. A scan of my enrire trunk took 10 seconds! You should have seen the other pictures that I did not get prints of. Every vessel in that area, including the tiny paraspinals, lit up. The resolution is so good they use it to evaluate the coronaries too - I did not need an angiogram. If you know what an angiogram is, that was a great relief not to have done.

I voted for Obama. I worked in healthcare for 30 years. The proposed reforms scare the living **** out of me. To fund the program they are attacking the wrong elements of the system. It's pitiful and I pray it does not pass. I voted for the guy with a lot of hope and he has done almost nothing to make me feel I did the right thing. Of course, Palin and whoever her running mate was stank to high heaven. When are we going to get some better choices? God save us.

Well we agree on some of this Personally I find all forms of progressive government distasteful. Why do I want others making decisions for me?
