1974 is the cutoff for smog testing in California they did away with the rolling 25 year rule......biggest plus of the 16 valve is they usually do not bend valves in a t-belt waterpump event and if they did it is possible to easily remove the heads in the car. Also do not use the cam cover bolts that screws into the head of another bolt (USA 85-86 )which often breaks of in the cylinder head...big question is always odometer readings since part of federalization was an MPH speedo typically reset to ZERO. I believe Carfax does not recognize Euro vins so info is hard to get.

Carfax and Autocheck work fine with Euro vins, but very often there is no mileage information.
Like Jim says, point often lost on Euro sellers is that MPH speedo means true mileage unknown, regardless of what the guy they bought it from told them.

The one's typically more applicable to TMU are the '78-83.
None-the-less this is a generalization and not a hard and fast rule.
To get a good sense of wether or not prospect Euro 928 has true miles, you need import paperwork to make sure the model/year matches the import year.
If the seller can't supply you with that, then find the original owner and ask them if they know at what port the car was brought in. The ports often keep record of car's VIN which have passed through. This will allow you to at least match dates.

Unless a car has extensive service records, I take all mileage claims with a grain of salt. Personally I'm not too much into the value of low mileage, its just part of the price negotiation.

And that is where it should be. An un-hacked LH euro is the best 928 there is and this one was a beauty. Well worth it.
There is just no comparison between a Sanford & Son derelect and an always cared for clean example. They ain't making anymore. We've had a few very nice euro's here lately. Nice update.
