What are S3 Cams worth nowadays..?
Hi All,
I have an unmodified set of S3 32V cams (Similar to GT Spec, but need modification to fit an S4 Head) in good shape that I was thinking of selling..
What does anyone think they are worth... No pitting etc...
I think I will go a different route with my application...
Thanks,

$250 to $350 is a good price.
Once they are modified they are worth a lot more 8>)

I can't remember - it sucks getting old.
All I know is the cam profile is about as close to GT as you can get.
They chop of one end of a cam and reweld and machine it.
As long as it makes my car go faster I don't really care. I leave it to clever guys like Jim Morton to sort out the detail.

The front journal of the left exhaust cam gets a wider profile by either welding in material, or by adding a two part sleeve and welding that in place. the rear journals are cut off the cams just behind the last lobe.
the lobe profile of the four cams is identical to the GT cams, and more aggressive than the GTS cams. They also have a wider lobe center allowing a bit more RPM.

Here's what Jim Morton did to the first set of my S3 cams:
- Clean and prep camshafts for work
- Drivers side thrust mod
- Regrind all four cams by Elgin Cams
- Shorten cams, or notch for future shorten
- Post grind - gas nitride heat treatment
- Post heat treatment straighten / parkerize / QA

Thanks guys..! I will keep it in mind.. Might be better off modifying them and sticking them back in the garge for that spare motor I have...
How much did Elgin charge to mod the cam..? Maybe I gotta give Dema a call......

Lift and duration can be changed by grinding the cams.
