Rob - fixed the page number for you relative to rod offsets (page 11 not 4). Read through all 12 pages to find it. Good, interesting read to include some drama.

Seems like we only need to calculate the center to center distance of the rods on the crank, and get them done accordingly..

Don't I wish I had a blueprint of the motor...! All the measurements and specs would be there.. Maybe I should ask the factory... Oh well...

Default Replacement 928 Sequential Shift 6 Speed

Greg,

I spoke to Weismann today, and their stuff is pricey, and is custom. 22K USD+ semi auto, 4/5/6 speed, sequential, what you want...

Very very cool stuff, can handle the input torque, but expensive, yes...!

Howeverrrrrrrrrr, they are working on a less expensive solution at the moment for CORVETTES, which would not be too bad to adapt to a 928..

Maybe some of the 928 guys could do a group buy for this once it was ready..!

Hmmmmm, with all the strokers and high power motors going together, it would not be a bad idea, then we could all have 928's with 1000 Lb/Ft input power, and not break anything...

Their marine drives are good for 1400 Lb/Ft TQ load for 400 Hrs running time before service... That is really, really good...!

Just a thought in case anyone is interested, I can keep them in the loop, as I will be keeping tabs on the gearbox development..

Cheers,

Xtrac, Hewland, and Emco make similarly configured units- I think the Emco is the least expensive at around 15K, and all are racecar versions, not for a specific passenger car replacement. The Corvette may be our friend here, as there is a large enough market that a couple companies will make a direct replacement that MAY be adaptable to our cars. We'll see...

Hi Steve,

Weismann said that their case internals will be the same as they have now, and the Corvette version if produced will offset the cost quite a bit. So, it MAY indeed be our friend, as it will be able to handle 1100 Lb/Ft at the input shaft, and can be either street, or a race box depending on customer needs. The box is physically pretty small, and can be adapted to may configurations, as done with the Ferrari 360 conversion with a supercharged 7.0liter big block Chevy motor.

I am hopeful that if they go ahead and make the 'Vette box, it will adapt to the 928 without too much hassle.. It would be a great thing if it just needed a remachining of the bell housing, as that is something that could easily be done with a scanner, and CAD...

Anyway, like you said, we shall see..... I'll update the forum once I know more..

Cheers,
