Other

Info and a few questions answered:

PCA – Potomac Region Porsche Fest 2006, People’s Choice 3rd place.
Frenzy 10 - 2006 People’s Choice 1st Place for ‘87-’95 cars attending. <Wife was the judge, how could I loose?>

What is the mileage?
The actual mileage is unknown the speedometer stopped at +/-78K and gear was not replaced until 2009. Discussions with previous owner expressed an average of 4-5K per year since odometer quit. My best estimate is the body has 115K on it. Engine was replaced by Porsche @ +/- 59K for timing belt failure documented by Porsche dealership that completed the replacement.

What are the current/previous title issues, if any?
None other than a couple of failed emissions under my ownership leading to the intake re-fresh, new sensors and rebuilt LH. Car is current at this time and passed VA state emissions.

Where has the car been/locations?
Car was first sold at Don McGill in Houston TX, then moved to New Orleans and transported (documented) to Virginia just before Katrina. It’s been living with me since Jan 2006.

Has it been repainted / re-upholstered?
All but one quarter panel has been repainted at some time, always using single stage paints it's a 10ft, not a 2ft car. My guess is that the car was repainted at times due to minor mishaps and shopping cart encounters. The car has never crashed to my knowledge.

Is it original motor / transaxle?
No on motor and yes to transaxle.

Newer, more recent pictures will be posted over the next few days. For those of you that do not know the car. Here are some pics over the past few years under my ownership. The Cup I replica's are no longer on the car. There are now OEM S4 wheels on it.

Some of my paperwork. There is an inch of other stuff thought I would leave that alone.

(Make me a reasonable offer 9.5K is the starting point)

Michael

Michael,

It is unclear in your post if the car is running or not at this point. Will make a HUGE difference in what you might expect to sell it for... Looks nice in your avatar for sure!

Very nice car, Michael. Wish I lived closer to you guys and could help you reassemble.

I've seen it, worked on it a little bit, and would love to bring it down here to Richmond. But alas, I would loose a lass in the process.

That's too bad you can't get it back together. It would really help your driving enjoyment, and you may not want to sell it.
IIRC, it's not rolling and it's up on stands. How do you plan to sell it this way? You're over halfway there to get the trans back in the and susp. carrier back up. And you would have to do half of that to at least make it a roller.
It is a nice car. Don't cut your losses.

It's just about done. No pic's until it is done. Shouldn't be more than a week, as to why I am bumping the thread. It is a very average '88 928 S4 with a lot of service recently completed and close to back on the road. Average car will bring an average selling price. NADA is listing 8-10K and I believe that I am closer to the top than the bottom. Please feel free to PM or IM me with your thoughts or concerns.

The transmission is now back in. As is most of the suspension.

It will go on ebay in the next week or so. Giving other rennlist members a chance to make an offer before I list it. There is not much room to play with the price but feel free to ask.

Michael

P.S. Let's keep the thread clean.

Good luck with sale. I assume once completed it'll drive anywhere?

That's a nice service history! I honestly would list it on autotrader for $8900 OBO with a service history like that. If anyone was to pay to have all the work done on that car you did, your looking at 10k easy from a local shop. Sounds like this car had a well cared for owner. Hopefully you have receipts for all the parts as well? I would put emphasis on the service history if you put it on eBay! Sounds like a good daily driver like my Cassirot!

My price is posted Gio.

Just trying to sort stuff out.

In the 5 years of being on Rennlist I don't think that anyone has posted a "For Sale" listing as detailed as mine.

I thought that maybe I could start a trend.

Bump..

Still on the market. Will post it on eHell and Auto Trader next weekend, that would be Feb 10th or so 2010.

Finished inspection today and good to go. What car doesn't have problems mine still has a few. I will continue to work thru them until either the 2001 VW GTI is sold or the 928 is sold. One of them needs to find a new home. Just not enough room for both.

New pics will be up next weekend for sure.
