I'll never sell the 928... just doesn't make sense to do it. Perhaps in another 20 years.. but then ONLY to someone who will lover her as much as I do.. and happens to have a quarter million. ;-) (not inflation adjusted that it... )
In the meantime will continue to drive the boxster as the daily driver... next car will be a 1999 or 2000 Ferrari 360 or 348.. I think I need to empty the wallet a bit.. ;-)

Curt,
I agree...I was thinking about this thread topic and was going to add that I hope I am driving a Ferrari 360 Spider ('02 or newer) F1 in the next 3 years in addition to my fleet of 928's...

[QUOTE=blau928;]Mark,
I am just curious after reading your comments above...
Richard, this was an answer to what I would want to drive in a few years but someone also said just put a supercharger on it for less money instead of changing cars so my answers where more to both.
I bought it way back in 1994 at that time wanted the 928 because of the style the way it looked but now may want something different. Was saying it can't put the power to the ground if making real high horsepower as with supercharger which it does 500 plus horse as it would just spin the tires. The all wheel drive cars now are coming with launch control I want something more that I can do both with.
Tim's car runs strong thou 7.9's or so in the 1/8mile who knows it may even be faster from 60-120mph than the new turbo cars
I know once moving thou there are some strong running 928's
Was talking with someone about those numbers about what will the car do with supercharger, points against were rest of the car can't handle it if it hooked up completely it would start breaking parts.
Not till recently you have to wonder why the PDK with launch control went into the new 997TT I don't see and good use for lauch control except drag racing. Why did they ad it and what other use would it be?Some say its for good numbers for the press lol.
You are right and thats why now I want a different car that I want to drag race again.
Yes the 928 is one of the most comfortable cars for long trips I do more short driving now but would hope the comfort of the turbo car would be good enough.
Drag racing doesn't matter how fast you are its how consistent the car is and how the drivers reaction time is so its more of you and the car together.
While racing thou, running 14's in the 1/4mile or mid 9's in the 1/8th is boring since was I used to something faster.Need something that does it all handles, run close to high 10's in quarter mile, streetable and still hooks up without slicks and that would be new turbo car and gets 25mph highway.Alot of guys here have gone drag racing and some even grouped together for drag events.
Who knows I may always change my mind have another car and still hang on to the 928 since it still does look great.
I am just curious after reading your comments above...
Why would you buy a 928, a GT car meant to cover long distances in great comfort quickly, compare it to a drag race car, and then say the 928 is not able to put the power to the ground....? This would be similar to comparing a Cadillac limousine to a Toyota Tercel, and then saying the fuel economy of the limo is terrible.:

One thing I have to say, is that I have driven both a 928S4 and a 993 at speeds around 250/Kmh for a period of several hours in Germany, and the 928 is much more comfortable than a 993 C2 at speed, and also during the drive... (Personal opinion)... The again, it was designed to do exactly this type of driving, so maybe Porsche knew what they were doing.....:

I will pass mine on to my son. In less that 2 years I will be driving a 1995 Ferrari F355. 1995 because it is OBD1 and by then the "issues" with that model would have been fixed (valves, tubi exhaust etc). Right now they are cheap with good examples for $50k. After all the engine work that I have done on my S4 (prokensioner install, t-belt, door handle fix, intake refurbish) I believe the engine out procedure to do the cam belt on the F355 will be a walk in the park. This is what scares people away from owning this beast.

after selling two 928's in 2009, but still technically owning 2....I think I "might" still be driving a 928 in 2 years...assuming the lemons racer doesn't get crushed??

I bought my first 928 10 years ago. I've been driving one ever since. After one road car, and 3 previous "road and track" cars, I bought a track car and a road car. I'll never "voluntarily" stop driving the '94 road car. Eventually, old age may catch up with me and I'll be forced to stop driving (on the track before on the road!!!). Thus, the '94 will be sold only when the state declares me incapable of driving safely, or I am deceased. Don't hold your breath!!! - ha.

I've been driving mine - the same one, since 1982, so i guess it will stay around a bit longer - and i just added an 84 Euro S, to pass the passion on to my daughter who has wanted one for as long as i can remember - and it will be hers shortly.
