Default German Autofest

Don't know if this has already been posted, but German AutoFest is this weekend in Ventura at the Fairgrounds. Last year it really sucked; however, I understand that it has new promotion and has already surpassed the number of entries from last year. The info is at www.germanautofest.com. They usually have a theme, but I am not sure what it is this year. In past years it was very cool and I could spend most of a day hanging out. I hope to see some 928s Saturday. I think that a couple of years ago, Keith Widom won best in show with his GTS

Since it's only 1/2 hour from here I will be down there a bit on both Saturday and Sunday.

Yes, last year was way down because the original organizer retired and no one stepped up to run it until about 2 months beforehand. Support for the event had suffered prior to that, the local PCA wasn't even supportive. They are of the new incarnation and are actively promoting it.

I have some projects to work on over the weekend but I am looking forward to popping down there for a while.

Just got back, the only 928 representation was a couple from Mavrick, including a custom wide body cabriolet.

Couple years ago I think it was Mavrick that won with a suede interior.

Mostly a rustfest otherwise.

It is more of an enthusiast show than a concours. This year, every Porsche that came was directed into the show. I didn't realize what was happening until I was already in, I had to go out against traffic because I really didn't want to "show" mine due to it not being washed, cra*p being in the back and rear end damage still not fixed. So I was a little embarrassed of it.

There were some very nice examples though, including spyders and early cabs. I'd say much better than last year, not yet back to what it was 2 years ago and the previous management. Pending final judgement on the swap meet tomorrow.
