They used to call the 635 CSIs sharks, and there is some resemblance up at the snout.

Definitely not a Great White.

The 928 is a shark, for sure, but I always thought the older BMWs had pretty shark-like noses -

Yup, shark + BMW goes way back.

Few chapters earlier in the automotive history book, Corvette's were also considered sharks before the term "Stingray" popped up, starting with the Mako Shark prototype in 1961.
Even with the 1968 "new" model, the shark profile was still used as an inspiration for the body. The four vertical side vents is a clear giveaway to this.

Oh, I actually just watched the commercial. I didn't realize they were talking about the Z4. I can see the shark resemblance there.

The first BMW "shark-nose" design was the 2000 CS (1965-1968)
