A quick check at Rock Auto shows three brands available include Bosch at $38/ea.

In this part of the World OB means 78 to 86 cars as in Old Body.
So my OB's do use these injectors 8>)

OB, in its original usage, is defined by the CIS injectors as much as anything else. The term has been 'broadened' incorrectly by latecomers to include cars up through '86. OB does not mean 'original body' as purported here, but is in fact 'old bugger'. I know this comes up regularly, but no amount of discussion on this will actually cause the history to change. Only the accounts of it by folks where weren't there seem to be adjusted for their own convenience.

So there.

CIS Injectors clean up nicely with BrakeClean forced through the nozzles with the included spray tube. There's an anti-drip pressure valve inside, a ball and spring affair, that needs to be opened by the pressure and the inserted tube. As Doc recommends, be aware of the flammable materials you are atomizing when you do this stuff.

Use new seals when you reinstall the CIS nozzles.

I am running newer style injectors in my US 84 with modified 86 fuel rails. It works just fine. The heat shield must be cut off the rails though as they interfere with the intake runners. You also have to make up new fuel lines to connect with them.

An '85 Euro did not come from the factory with CIS, it came with LH 2.2. AFAIK it should have the same 24lb injector as Roger specified in his first post.

Dr Bob,
Next you will be telling me that a 5 speed can be driven faster than an automatic 8>)

Pictures of the injectors. Yellow top = 19Lb Blue top = 24Lb

Remember these are 4 hole and not to be confused with cheaper single hole.

CIS injectors should open at 35 PSI for those that are interested. Sonic cleaning is also a very effective way to clean them.

Roger,

Thanks for doing this work. Really makes it easier for everybody.

And again the experienced guys chime in with other real key information, ie, John above adapting fuel rails and confirming the 83/4 electronics can drive later injectors.

(If you ever decide to exit the 928 parts supply, business, I would appreciate at least a 90 day notice so that I can liquidate all these cars.)

Chris,
Just wait a couple of years and our cars will increase in value so that we can sell them and retire on the proceeds. Or in my case retire again 8>)

I paid somewhere ~$400 for a new set of 8 42lb injectors...I'm not sure if they were flow matched, although there is an ebay seller claiming to sell new flow matched injectors for about the same price.

The Euro 16v cars use a rubber hose and barbed fitting from the factory, so either the Ford injectors need modifying to fit a hose on them, or new fuel rails that use an oring and clip need to be made.
