+1300km Round Trip
Not a record breaking feat but the point being that the distance was easily covered within 2 1/2 days without any issues with ALL systems functioning as should including a/c which was much appreciated with our quite warm fall weather (for us).
The car used no fluids other than fuel. It leaked nothing other than some bug splat and no issues with the border.............stayed in Canada.
Primary reason for the trip was to visit my son who was playing in a major football game (CDN football) and he wanted to arrive in style. The car did him proud as did he for me; they won 49-18.
Another point is that after many years of ownership and many 'projects' I now feel the car is very close to running as best as I can without more 'high tech' tools.............anyone got a spanner?

Nicely done!
My best record was 1,486 km. I met up with Warren in Prince George during that trip, this was obviously before he moved to AB. Total time was 13 hours from when I left the starting point till pulling into the drive at home. That included the visit I am afraid.........
Dont think I would do it again though!

Thx Colin.
I'd do my trip again tomorrow with a very important addition.............the sun is blinding at 8-8:30pm when driving SW and West..................gotta get better sunglasses.

Brian in Edmonton has a ST but doesn't post here much so not sure if the 'machine' is available.
I like to own a ST but its a bit much $$$ to have and use only for my car.............need a 'better' biz case for the SO

Glad to hear you had a long run whith out issues. I did a 5,000 mi. trip to Montana to visit Ed and his wife Ann. That was when you were turned away at the border for our Montana fun run, which was pretty damn good! 380 miles worth!
My car ran great and only used a qt of oil for the entire trip. The only other problem I had was at 11,000ft along the Bear Tooth pass. The car had a problem idling and the oil light blink on and off if I didn't give the gas pedal a little nudge.
The radar detector paid for itself by 8 to 12 times.
One other issue I had was all the grasshoppers while going through wyoming and S. Dakota. Had to scrap them off the condenser and the radiator, not to mention the half cup that were in the air filter.
All in all, it was a good trip despite the emergency root canal the day before I left.

Nice job on the run! Makes all the hours under and over the car very worth while!!!
My wife and I were in Waterton this weekend and I mentioned you as we passed through the falls to head up 22. I had a UHaul on the back of my truck so we headed home with out too many stops.
I'd love to do another fall run but I don't know if timing will allow but we could catch up for a lunch or something next time we're in your neck of the woods!
Well done on the trip on the game!!

Used to do the Calgary to Vancouver thing for the weekend on a regular basis. Leave Friday around lunch, get to Vancouver for last call, party like crazy Saturday and Saturday night then drink and bar b que and leave Sunday at six. Drive straight through to Calgary, drop the kids off and without getting out, go to work.
1000km each way
Good times, good times.

If there was any issue the car had with the trip was that it wanted to 'go'!
Cruising at 130 with occaisional bursts much above when traffic and fun controllers allowed was nothing for the car..........its barely at 2500rpm (top gear 2.2 rear).
180 - 200 would have been very nice

Sweet stuff Malcolm. I did a short hop 400 miles this weekend. The old 78 drives like a new anything else!
