Exclamation

for anyone rolling up I4 Saturday morning there is a local rendezvous point for the Orlando caravan to the track:

The Citrus and Crown Regions are hosting OctoberFast at Daytona International Raceway October 9 – 11. Sponsored by Porsche of Melbourne, the event includes not only a national PCA Club Race, but a 2 or 3 day Driver’s Ed and an Autocross. It is a major Porsche track event attended by participants from across the country. We also hope to have touring laps of the track at lunch time. Laps will be for a $20 donation to a charity .

For observers/fans , we’re planning to caravan over to Daytona Saturday morning, Oct. 10th from the eastbound Longwood rest stop on I-4, leaving at 9am. Try and arrive at 8:45 for any last minute info. There is no cost to view the event for PCA members, non-members may be charged a temporary membership fee of $5.00. Please bring your membership card. Also, Porsche of Melbourne is hosting a get-together from 2-4pm Saturday at the track with refreshments provided and the new Panamera on display.

Check earlier in the thread, there's a group coming over from the Tampa/Lakeland area. I think they will be in the US-27/I-4 area around 8:15 if I remember correctly. They might be coming through the Orlando area around the 9am time. Of course, being 928ers, they'll wanna be leaders & not followers. jk

I just found out that Tampa 928s isn't coming. Tarek also cannot come due to other comittments. Therefore, I will not be attending either. I don't have a car for the event and I was just coming along with those guys. Have fun everyone.

Jere (Big Easy Sharkster) is out also, just got off the phone with him the shop did not get his TB/WB done today.
Looks like it's gonna be a lonely ride.

I would expect nothing less
I think I heard we may be able to get wrist bands at the meeting point to speed up entry to the in-field. I'm going up to take photos, hope to see you guys up there.

Sorry I missed you guys.. I was at the repair shop until after 7 PM last night trying to work things out to get the car delivered for 0630 this morning, but items kept coming up and finally it became apparent that the only way the WP/TB, fuel pump, brake bleed, etc was going to get done was with short cuts and working late into the night with guys that really didn't want to be there and that project had failure written all over it.

I really wanted to make it to Daytona (never been there) and to say I'm disappointed on several levels of this project is an understatement.

We'll try for 'Porsches in the Park' in December

Sorry to hear that your shark wasn't ready in time Jere, I don't blame you though for not taking that risk. Plan for Sebring the 1st week of Feb. We had a good group again this year & it was great to see everyone. The weather was very hot, about 10 degrees above normal, but clear & no rain. The cabana we had was a necessity!

The Pamamera is a big car, & looks better in person than in the pics. Can't wait to see the 2 door version when it comes out in a couple years. It also looks quick as a cat for a big sedan. We did have a very nice '95 GTS 5 spd show up with only 31k, it was worth seeing that one. I'll post some pics later. I know David K. took a lot of good pics too.

Had a great time as usual even though it was Hot as hell. Some new cars/owners showed up this year.
576 miles round trip, 20.6mpg despite a 160mph run between charlotte and lee county on I-75 around midnight.

Thanks Mel for putting your time and effort into the Daytona and Sebring GTG's.

Default Sharks at Daytona

Thanks to Mel for putting together another great 928 get-together at Daytona. As usual, really good people, with some new faces and new cars (one for sale). Lots of fun and a great time despite the heat Looking forward to Sebring!

The link below has the 928 photos first, then the rest of the race and garage photos. You may want to view them full screen in a slide show. There are always a few unusual cars and other details to be found.

Many thanks to Mel for being the ringleader and David K. for the amazing photos. Mel, I'll email you with some garage shots on or before the weekend...and yeah, Shawn, I'm definitely feeling motivated after Daytona. Just hearing a shark start-up with that low growl made me miss my favorite ride - think I need a cold shower.
