Smile Jumped in the tank with a '78 project, with pix now

Hi everyone. I have been trolling here since I picked up my project '78 5spd euro. She is in pretty bad shape. gas tank is out of the car. The fuel filter and accumulator was cut out. the accumulator is rusted up, along with the metal tube that was cut to get it out. This was done by PO. I got the car from a tow shop. The main point of this is to introduce myself. I am also curious if any has a fuel accumulator they could sell and the metal tubes that connect it. I sent a message to James Morrison about getting a manual cd. I appreciate any help I get, and I am excited about being in the shark tank. From what I have read this is one of the best auto communities I have seen. Thanks in advance.

BTW it is a blk, 5spd, no sunroof, brown leather with green and tan checkered print. The vin is 9288101145

Welcome to the asylum, take your time on pictures we are all very patient types.

You might want to give your new car a full inspection, before you start spending serious money on fuel injection parts, most of which will need to be replaced with new or rebuilt.

do not worry about the accumulator just use a few feet of rubber high pressure hose looped and tie wrapped ( in it's place ) it expands like a garden hose and will work to hold pressure which is ONLY needed for a hot restart.

The function of the accumulator is to maintain a continuous pump/system pressure. If it is leaking, it can defeat the function of the check valve (in or on the fuel pump) and cause difficult hot starts. Running without it could cause erratic A/F mixtures on a non O2 sensored CIS system. Good used or new ones are available.

Sorry for not posting pix earlier, she is in a pretty bad state. Where would be a good place to find a used accumulator? or does wrapping the hose up really work?

Does the filter catch all the rusty bits or do the injectors need some sort of cleaning?

Glad the pasha interior isn't destroyed.
Think some of the speakers in my door are held by 'J' clips that clip onto the door.

That red push-button between the window switches isn't for an alarm or something?

So many got parked for minor reasons.

Do clean the heck out of that intake so as to not ingest grit / check the valley for vermin, too, I've pulled up a live mouse with a shopvac.

It will be a tremendous feeling when you bring her back!

Best wishes on the project.

Looks like an interesting project. No sun roof, no rub strips, 5-speed, pasha... could be a really fun car when its all said and done.

Places to check for new and/or used parts [eg, your accumulator question].
